Ahh nostalgia

Well, honestly, I would have never got XBL if it wasnt for Bungie.
Posted by: DeeJ (thanks for the quotes, Mythix)
playin' favorites I see.
Posted by: DeeJ log onto Xbox LIVE and kick some online ass.
I'd love to, however an essay on Plato has got me bogged down.

I get it, you made a thread in Mythic group and asked people about xbox live. Hey Deej, non Mythic members like xbox live too.
-
Ten? Huh. Funny how I found out about XBL's origin earlier today in a completed unrelated topic and it just happens to be its birthday. Neat.
Posted by: Mythical Wolf Not sure if hidden advertisement or an actual congratulation post.
Or both?

I remember when I first got XBL. It was only 2.. Where has my life gone?!?! Edit: Not to mention that without Xbox Live I never would have met the awesome bums that met up last summer to successfully beat the Guinness World Record for FPS marathon! Thanks, Xbox! And thanks to Bungie for supplying the game. [Edited on 11.15.2012 11:15 PM PST]

I'm not a Mythic member, all of my posts are insignificant to Bungie.
-
It got me into online gaming of any sort.
-
My ignorance about video games (and most other things) took a huge beating after I joined the online experience of Xbox Live. Ironically, my speech became even more articulate (just regular communication, not trash talking) when playing games on Xbox Live than I did in real life. Before Xbox Live, all I had to was physically point at my brother's screen when I wanted to well, point something out. Online, I am in situations where I have to let my teammates know that a fully loaded warthog is driving along the cliff edge to hit our base for the flag, a sniper is encamped behind the big rock west of the teleporter, and our banshee just respawned in a clear and accurate manner.
Posted by: spartain ken 15 Hey Deej, non Mythic members like xbox live too.
Really, Ken? Please tell me more. This is a day about longevity and nostalgia. I thought the Mythix might do a good job of putting things in perspective. I pay a lot of attention to each of you, and I know that every voice is important. Every week, I include as many of you as I can in the conversation on our blog. On this occassion, I needed to solicit some comments for press outlets in a way that was not exposed to the wild. When I sought to choose a group that could provide some meaningful context, I landed on the Mythic Members. In the even that the comments were not picked up, I ran them on our site. Then, I invited the rest of you to sound off... This is a chance to celebrate a gaming platform that has brought us together.

Wow 10 years is a long time.
Please, no reason for butthurt.. I guess my answer is same as before, it really hasn't changed me as a gamer. I still play mostly with my real life friends, only difference is that we play against the world, not each other. [Edited on 11.15.2012 11:28 AM PST]

Xbox Live (and Halo 2) is responsible for a group of 20+ people, being friends for close-to ten years now (10 of whom are very close - I haven't met 95% of them, but I consider them dear friends). Maybe we were once thought of as the arseholes of this site, but whether it was under the banner of The Bungie Jumpers, or The Frozen Minority, no one can deny that they've had a ball if they've ever played with us on Live. Here's to plenty more (not just another ten)! ;)
-
Back in the day it made me wish my mom had a creditcard so I could go online with H2.
-
XBL has actually had an effect on my life. When I first got XBL I didn't have to many friends IRL, so I made tons of them on Live. Mostly in Halo 2 and 3. Sadly I have friends now and i either don't talk to a lot of my XBL friends or they've gone offline.
-
Here's to another 10 years of not giving Microsoft $60. It was worth it back in the day, but free is better, in my opinion. I may consider getting it in the event that a great game comes out and includes multiple Xbox Live features (Destiny, for example), but otherwise I think I'll just stick to playing against AIs and on the PC.
Posted by: DeeJ
I would but I can't think of anything to celebrate that involves only XBL. [Edited on 11.15.2012 11:34 AM PST]
Posted by: DeeJ and I know that every voice is important.
Some are just more important than others. That's the real lesson of XBL. Hard -blam!- rain.

Thanks For the Read. Xbox has been an awesome part of my life with the first LAN parties to the very First xbox live game so many years ago, from relaxing and chilling with friends, to late night competitive matches. Also all those moments of what just happened feeling in a beautiful campaign game that are you are seeing for the first time. Also Thanks Bungie for making the experience 10x better with your games and this community! I look forward to the next ten years of kick-potato!- Games and taking part of this site! For the first time it brought console gaming out of the bedroom and into the real world. Communities sprung up and they've lasted, far outliving the games in which they were born. It's something you gentlemen should be very proud of.
-
Too bad I couldn't get a quote in, but XBL has done a lot of greatness for my life. Bungie is a big part of that all as a whole, as well.
-
Oh hey, I actually made it into a Mail Sack, sweet.
-
Y'know what, DeeJ? It's not Xbox LIVE that brought me here. Bungie did :) Without Bungie, there'd be no Halo. And without Halo, I wouldn't be here.
