CQC Helmet Cam, Spec Ops in Afghanistan... House storming
I just saw this video, and while I've seen many combat videos, never anything like this... Had to share.

I was shocked by how real this felt (well obviously) but just the hesitation, the confusion.... paintball is bad enough already I can't imagine what this would be like.
As far as I know this isn't breaking any rules, though I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

R.I.P to the Afghan Army soldier. This is a very interesting video to watch. It gives you that "oh -blam!-" moment and leaves you feeling scared, but in the end you know you're safe behind your moniter. I've seen many videos of combat footage, but none like this. I'll be enlisting soon, and these videos really help me know what I could possibly be doing.

[/quote] Don't do it. All it is is a ton of pain and suffering. Politics screw everyone over. When you get out, you have no skills useful in the civilian world. Military training is so different from LE training that most departments won't take you because you're over-qualified. Nothing against the military, but it's not how it used to be. Politics won't let you do your job.

OT so this doesn't get derailed: What was your guys reaction after seeing the rounds hitting the Afghani rifle? To me it was the scariest part. It's a lot harder going from enlisted to officer than it is to start an officer. Plus, they'll probably switch you to a different unit. The men look differently at a corporal turned lieutenant than a fresh lieutenant. It's also very rare for people to make a career out of Recon. Your knees and back are worn out very fast by the weight of current equipment. Either way, it's your choice and I wish you the best of luck. I might be mistaken, but didn't the first Insurgent you see in the video have a weapon on him? Isn't one of the rules if the person is armed, they're fair game? Both the US troop and Afghani troop could have fired at him and prevented the Afghan soldiers death. Again, I might not be right on the weapon in his hands part, and I'm not sure if my ROE statement was correct.

Just a guess. As for the ROE, yes, they can be engaged if positive ID is acquired. The video only gived the perspective of one of the Operators, if any of the others saw a weapon then absolutely these guys can be killed. The reason the ANA went in is because eventually they're going to have to do this all by themselves so they need as much training as possible. [Edited on 11.13.2012 10:52 PM PST]

You're probably correct about the "trying to snag the Insurgents" part though. Still, sad to see the troops we're training lose their lives.
