What do you think is the most significant battle in history? It doesn't have to be set in fact in a history book, this is about your opinion and no one elses.
Alternatively if you don't have an idea of the most significant, what is your favorite battle to study if you have any?
I cant put it down to a single battle, so in my opinion the Eastern Front during World War 2 was the most significant.

Battle of the bridge? Do you mean Bulge?
Posted by: Zoomzoom97
Posted by: Spartan1995324 The War of 1812. Had America won they would have been the largest country on Earth with the most natural resources. They would have become the next British Empire and changed a lot of things throughout history. Like not losing Vietnam, lol. But seriously, things would have been so different. Of course by 2012, I don't think the "American Empire" would still be intact. Anyways you can thank England and Canada for helping to prevent it.
But America didn't lose...they signed a treaty and ended it. No one really won. OT: Anyway I would say either The Battle of New Orleans, Yorktown, D-day in general, or the Battle of the Bridge. Edit: Whoops forgot about the Battle of Britain. That one too.

Posted by: Spartan 4085 The battle between matter and antimatter.
I'd have to agree.
Posted by: BlackHeaven Can I say the American revolution?
Yes. Not because 'Murica, but because of the way the US affects the rest of the world.

Yeah that definitely would have been interesting.
Posted by: tristram88
Posted by: Raptorx7 That would be quite the empire
Posted by: AngasBoy
Posted by: tristram88 Perhaps not the most important but still significant, Battle in the Teutoborg Wald.
Imagine if Rome had conquered everything from the Rhine to the Baltic. Now that would be crazy.

And maybe the Western Empire would have dissolved differently or perhaps not at all.

Posted by: Raptorx7 They had a lot of help as well, Prussia, Russia.
Posted by: AngasBoy IMO Borodino and Trafalgar were far, far more decisive that Waterloo. The Brits like to get credit for this "epic last battle" against Napoleon but his empire was pretty much gone 2 years beforehand.

It's really the only "great" land victory that the British can claim from the Napoleonic wars though (Prussians were only about 1/3 and.). All the real stuff happened when Napoleon was on the back-foot in Germany. [Edited on 10.02.2012 5:07 PM PDT]

Canada was not a country at the time, only a colony, so I don't count them as a faction, only an extension of the British Empire. Not saying I dislike Canada, just going by history.
