I need help buying a computer. Must run Minecraft smoothly with TEKKIT
...So this is a computer i may or may not get, not sure if it can do it. The budget limit is $650.00 (USD). I dont care if laptop or desktop.
Currently what i might get: (cheaper cuz its factory refurbished. Specs from geeks.com)

Intel HD Graphics aren't going to get you far unless it's like 4000, and that's still sub-par. And after realizing that you had Coup I'm surprised you're even asking for computer help. [Edited on 08.17.2012 6:49 PM PDT]

The only problem is I don't know how demanding Tekkit is.

You need at least 1gb RAM to run tekkit, compared to 250mb for Vanilla (of corse they lag with that small amount of RAM.)

Please dont get a bloody gaming laptop. You get reduced performance for more of the cost, and there's no room for upgrades or anything else. I recommend getting a desktop with an AMD APU. You wont need to invest in a GPU and you'll be able to play minecraft just fine.

Though Minecraft itself is fairly easy to run with a good/decent FPS with pretty much any integrated graphics. The only problem is I don't know how much Tekkit ups the graphics for Minecraft. Though I imagine the OP would still be able to run it at a decent FPS even with Tekkit.

Your graphics card and processor will bottleneck those 8 gigs of ram you want.
