Where Bungie got it's name from has been a topic of discussion since the dawn of mankind.
Some say it was the punchline of a very filthy joke, too filthy for anyone not part of the company to hear, others say (I say) that it is the sound that the mythical giant slingshot that will shoot Bungie's enemies into the sun creates.
For those who can't count it's because there are 7 (6) letters in Bungie.
What is your theory as to why Bungie has the name "Bungie"?

Simply because "Bungie" sounds awesome!

"OK, I want the name of our studio to represent taking a bold, exciting leap into the unknown." "How about Bungee?" "I like it! How do you spell that?"

But, Uncle Nick graduated in Easton. ^Final line to a novel that Joe Staten happens to love.

[i] "Although the only ever official explanation reaches new heights of unbelievable lameness, the secret of the actual Bungie name has become so closely guarded, that even a few Grizzled Ancients either don't know or aren't sure if it's true. There truly is a very strange reason for the company being called "Bungie," and we daren't reveal it here. There are...penalties leveled at those who reveal the deepest secrets." Because the name "We will make you wait forever with no details about our games over and over and over and over and over and over and over again" was taken.
