There should be a list that show's who's online
I think this would be a great feauture in these forums. I mean all the other forums I use have it.
Basically maybe in the bottom or in a seperate area show all users who are online. This would be nice as I can see if my friends are online, also which Ninjas are online. (This is important)
Good idea?

If anything there should be a counter in corner of each page on the site that shows ''XXX members online''.

That would really only be useful is Bungie.net had IM, which it does not.

We don't have a "Who's online" list because we don't need to know who's online. Services like MSN messenger and Xbox Live show you an online/friends list because they are supposed to be quick use services, i.e I want a response/ game in the next 5 minutes or I'll do something else. The forums are more like a very open email service. Imagine the OP's post is an email sent to every user on the site. When someone replies, the email is again sent to everyone on the site, but with another comment attached to it. We don't need to know who's online when sending an email because it's not about the time taken for a reply but the discussion within. The other thing I don't like about this idea is the way it will highlight forum activity. It's not hard to figure out which forums are dead, but this feature would give reliable evidence on which forum has no users on it. Making spam attacks all the easier on the dead forums. But who exactly are you trolling in a dead forum? Nobody. Although, I'm not completely against the idea. :-)

I would love something like this feature to be added to bnet. It would be very useful in private groups and on the main forums.

Friend's List and being able to see who is online sounds like a good idea.

With that being said, I'm not directly against the idea of a messenger of sorts like the one suggested on another thread not too long ago. Just my 10 cents.

Not a list, but something like an indicator to show that a user is currently online.

Bad idea, in regards to ninjas. There's times where we're offline because we're either asleep, at work, at school, or out with friends and it'd be nasty to see a bunch of "no mods online" threads (we already have them without this feature) from the same jerks who roll with 50+ alts...who, funny enough, claim that we're the ones with no lives. ;)
