People -blam!-ing about CoD

Try to be nice. Why do people say CoD has never changed what do you mean when you say that? Look at Halo 3 vs Halo Reach AAs and Bloom what else changed? Look at CoD4 vs CoD MW3 Spec Ops Missions and Survival, More perks, new weapons,20 prestiges,Strike Packages,Theater Mode, Black Ops had -blam!- Zombies,Kill Streaks,Gun Camos/Attachments,Face Paint, Anyway just pointing something out that does not make sense to me.
They drastically changed Forge, added new weapons, updated the armory (and added Firefight Voice, Armor Effects, and Visor Color), changed the ranking system, changed Firefight, and also have updated graphics. Notable changes from Call of Duty 4 to Modern Warfare 3 are: New weapons, Titles and Emblems, New gun camo, Spec Ops Missions, Survival, Strike Packages, and Theater Mode (Which I believe takes a lot of inspiration from Halo 3's Theater Mode as there is little-to-no difference in how its used). The changes from Halo 3 to Halo: Reach outweigh the changes from Call of Duty 4 to Modern Warfare 3 in my opinion, but that doesn't mean the game is bad. [Edited on 08.05.2012 5:29 AM PDT]

 • Eh.....its a mediocre series that is cashing in on its ability to consistently out sell just about everything else while doing little innovation. That's it. Expecting anything else from it, and criticizing it over this (because you finally figured it out or you are still buttmad you kept buying into it) just makes you look silly and opens you up to disappointment and rib tickling jibes from your peers.

 •
Posted by: DarkVader9494 Cuz its copy paste! [/floodlogic]
Basically, what DarkVader9494 said. They mean it's basically the same thing over and over again. As in the same multiplayer style, stuff like that. What I don't get is why people say Halo changes too much but then they say CoD doesn't change enough. My opinion? I love both of them. You don't want a game to change much? Play CoD, you want one that changes a lot? Play Halo.

 •
Posted by: bergXX09 Call of Duty is hated because it is long past its retirement. Along with this, unlike Halo there is no coherent storyline between any of the games following CoD 4 (WaW is an exception). Blops 2 and MW3 have nothing to do with each other despite being in the Call of Duty title. MW2 and MW3 aren't coherent either. They just throw you as random characters in cliche cities with cliche battles and cliche backstabbings. If you counted the numbers by the games, it would be at CoD 9 I believe for the November release and that would include 4 Modern Warfare, 4 WW2, and 1 Cold War. Notice how the first three original WW2, the first Modern Warfare, and the first Cold War are generally accepted as good in some aspect. They then drag out the series with nothing new. The gun models and animations are all the same, the buildings are copied and pasted, the storylines are very unoriginal and cliche, the multiplayer is scrapped together with no balance or consistency, and the only thing ever worth playing is Zombies or Spec Ops which is a sideshow of the entire game. As for graphics, they are very outdated and lacking of any sort of aesthetics at all to fit the games. CoD 4 had the aesthetics that fit Call of Duty with the grittiness and slimmer models and good sizes of the models. Then MW2 and MW3 made everything shiny and "bubbled" in a sense with fatter characters, bigger explosions, and less realism (and hasn't made any good or changing visual aesthetic attempts). Look at Black Ops which takes place during the stressful and tense times of the Cold War. Then look at the action packed and war exhausted MW 2 and 3. Then look at the futuristic Black Ops 2. Why do they all have the same aesthetics and all look the same? Black Ops 2 is in the future and should have slicker and cleaner looking models. Instead we have the same clunky look and it looks like today with cliche robots. So those are reasons why Call of Duty deserves the hate. And like usual, this video helps explain why the game is bad.
Copied and pasted on notepad for future reference. You win.

 • There;s really nothing WRONG with CoD. CoD is fun if that''s what you're into. Personally, I'm more of a CoD3 guy, but I am willing to understand the niche that CoD4+ fill, and that people like that. Personally, I think there are some balancing issues (that I hear CoD9 or whatever addresses), and some mechanics that I'm not fond of (quickscope), but every game has it's flaws. The flawless game does not exist. There is something to be said of recycling much of a game and charging full retail for less work put into a game, but I suppose what qualifies as a new game may be different from one person to the next. I would be unhappy if a game that has it's own, different mechanics to CoD, like Halo (just as an example), started emulating CoD's system, no matter how much better balanced it would potentially be compared to CoD, because I play those games for the mechanics they do. I would equally be unhappy if a CoD game I liked threw out it's mechanics in favor of another games'. This is not, and should not be taken as a knock against CoD, or other games, but should be taken as a recognition of the value of diversity, even within the FPS genre.
