No one cares about cursing.
Some human body parts are blocked, so we can't discuss anything about anatomy.
Some words are blocked for no reason.
Most mods don't even ban people who bypass it. And when they do, it's for a stupid reason.
Posted by: st3althsniper22 Clearly, because a word is now not blocked, means people would use it more. The profanity filter is ludicrously easy to avoid, yet not many people go around it or choose to use the words at all (having them show up as -blam!-), in the amount of traffic the site gets.
Posted by: supertripon
Posted by: st3althsniper22 Do many people use -blam!- in every sentence, much less a wall? No, they don't Which makes it pointless to block the word.
Posted by: Grimaldus On a serious note, Bungie cares about cursing and honestly, I don't want to see a wall of f-bombs...it's really distasteful.

They'd use the words more if they weren't blocked. Did that honestly not occur to you?

To be honest I would probably use the words if they were not blocked. But I do my best to reword my sentences so that I don't have to need them. Sometimes it's just necessary to express certain emotions though. However, the -Blam- works well to emphasize the feeling.

If you have nothing to say but curse words you probably don't have anything valuable to say anyways.

I don't mind the filter on public forums, but there should be an option for it to be turned on/off.
Posted by: DJ Yella No one cares about cursing.
I do.
-
Cursing Is acceptable in spoken word especially in the moment because of the emotions involved. Cursing in text is both pointless and stupid
-
Why does it really matter? Get over it already.

I come here like once a month and I see yella getting raped by the community.LOL hard

I find that t-blam!- is a better way to keep my beard neat and tidy. I prefer t-blam!- over waxing or shaving.
Oh, it's only with the -ing. I see. That is a little Scunthorpe-y.
-
I care about it.
-
Posted by: xXIHAYD0IXx I care about cursing. This isn't a science forum. The profanity filter is from an old microsoft list. What mods do or do not do is not really my concern as long as I follow the rules.
Yeah. Thats pretty much it.
-
I don't -blam!- care. I do not see it inhibiting discussion.
-
Posted by: ANinjaGuardian I think the profanity filter should be scrapped, its not like swearing actually hurts.
Its not like its hurting you to keep it on. I have always liked Bungie for their restraint, and my opinion of them would change for the worse if they gave into your salty tongues. All I can say is, "CRY SOME MOAR!"

Something that bothers me is that we're able to talk about certain topics even if their name is blocked by the profanity filter. It's strange.
Posted by: xXIHAYD0IXx
Posted by: coolmike699 What does "this isn't a science forum" mean, anyway? What does that have to do with this?
OP said we can't talk about anatomy because of certain blocked words.
And science forums are the only places to talk about anatomy? The fact that "this isn't a science forum" is not relevant to anything. It's not a valid argument as to why the profanity filter should stay the way it is.
-
Honestly, I wouldn't mind having "f-bomb tokens". You get two per week (non-accumulating), where you can tell someone to go f*** themselves. Sometimes the situation just plain merits it.
-
I don't think the filter should be taken away. We wouldn't gain anything constructive if it was taken out.
-
Have you been to an uncensored forum lately? It sucks.
-
Can mods see through the filter? IE: If I was to actually write a curse word, would the mods see it as -blam!- or as the actual word?

It's really not a big deal, but I do feel some words shouldn't be sensored. the majority are rightfully sensored.
-
What the -blam!- is this?!
