Fallout: Alaska

Since I know next to nothing about American stuff, I don't know... though somewhere snowy would be cool, maybe Alaska yet. Yeah.. Fallout Alaska. Polar Bears, snowy mountains, and abombinable snowmen deathclaws. Shipwrecks. Awesome. Thoughts? Would Alaska be good?

 • The Midwest would be the most appropriate next game seeing how Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas have all been very canon with one another (2 is essentially a sequel to 1) and with these games the plot has moved eastward some each time.

 •
Posted by: Foxtrot561 Atlanta, GA. A big war torn city, beautiful forests, and a survivor occupied Stone Mountain. Plus, all the ghouls will have slick Georgian accents.
Maybe I'd get to visit my nuked home!!! Make it happen.

Instead most people would not want to play in an environment with no major landmarks. Seriously Fallout 1 and 2 are the past if you want to act like they are what is important in games nowadays you are delusional especially since Bethesda bought out the series for such a small amount of money and have made millions from it. Clearly Bethesda knows what people wanted from the Fallout franchise.
This is one of those things where quantity over quality shows it's face.
Sales dictate quality. If a game isn't good it won't sell it really is that simple. The Fallouts before Fallout 3 were obviously not what people wanted or else they would still be around.

You have the Redwood Forests across the GGB, the GGB itself, San Fran, Oakland, Alcatraz, etc Not to mention the potential to have a lot of references and tie ins with Fallout 1's The Hub (aka Las Angeles)
...LA was the Boneyard, actually.

 • Great idea but the is no reason a country would nuke Alaska. There is nothing major up there.

 •
Posted by: HaloFan9795 It would be like Skyrim with guns... nope
You do know people already called Fallout 3 Oblivion with guns, right?
I think some place in Europe like London would be cool, see what the post-apocalypse is like in other countries
A huge part of the series is the incredibly U.S. centered and 'patriotic' feel. Other countries have similar feelings too for their own nations I know, but it wouldn't be the same if it switched. I think it needs to stay American centered in order to be as successful and good as it is.

Want to snipe? Find a mountain. Wanna use a shotgun? Get down there in the irradiated trenches against the Ghouls. Plus, there could be mini-Bunkers darted all around, and say you enter a pocket of blizzard, your health begins to deteriorate, much like Rads.
Still you could do that in just about any other Fallout game if you really wanted to the problem with Alaska is there is nothing there. Really you would have no sights to see which would make it a waste of a Fallout game.
Fallout was never about the sights until 3.
Remind me how that matters because last time I checked Bethesda now owns the Fallout franchise. So I doubt they would do a boring place like Alaska.
Oh, sorry I forgot we're dealing with a Bethesda insider.
I'm sorry to be a Grammar N@zi but I believe you mean "sites" as opposed to "sights". I thought you were talking about the gun sights. [Edited on 05.11.2012 2:07 PM PDT]

 • It'd be difficult to make Fallout in another country without changing Fallout. Fallout is built on 1950's American culture. It'd change the way pre-war things look and feel. Even though it would be interesting to see what other parts of the world would be like.
