I knew it'd seen that somewhere. I think you may be right.
Posted by: a Grunt I went back and looked again at the book cover everyone is babbling about. That looks a LOT like a Pfhor.
-
yes i would like to know about the crazy non-spartan looking armor.............
-
aaaaaahhh chea!!!
-
I think the 'new' armor, or whatever it is, looks pretty sexy. Maybe not as "dude that looks so tight" as the Chief's armor, but still pretty cool. I wouldn't mind wearing that. But yeah, I like the idea of old Forerunner assistence. Maybe that's what it is.
-
Ok since there are some secrets revealed in this update ( i am unsure if anyone else knows this) My friend told me I HAVE NOT LOOKED!!! that on one of the information crystals Dr. halsey has in first strike... it says cpom Pehaps reffering to master chiefs old instructor CPO mendez? Can some one prove if this is right so that i may sleep comfortably at night. I lost my copy of first strike and for that i am ashamed :`(

Guys, theres a possibilty (that i think is quite high) that that odd looking "Spartan" is probably Johnson. There is some pretty convincing proof on the forums that can explain why Johnson was a Spartan (when they just experimented with the idea of spartans) So i think that that's Johnson's backstory, or it will be Johnson in Spartan Armor helping out the other Spartans(possibly chief if he's there with them)

One of the best updates in a long time. Even though there was no Halo 3 junk, I still think that this novel information was incredibly useful (HUGE novel fan, read all 3 at least twice). But what ever happened 2 Mister Chief's evil twin Master Chef..................
-
I cant wate for the next book
-
I really do want to know what's up with that funny looking spartan. Btw.. any date been finalized when this sweet thing comes out?
-
great update, the new novel looks to kick much booty.
-
Im pretty sure this book is going to be the pwnzorz.
-
No you don't. You only think you do. The Halo 2 updates were full of the word CENSORED. Back then, people regularly made jokes about how nothing was actually being said because of the amount of deliberate and heavy handed censoring in each update. The update is not a privelege. We don't have to tell you a damn thing. If you don't like it, don't read it, and spare yourself (and us) the whining.
Posted by: klurejr
Posted by: Frankie The usual snooze
This is becomming the weekly "we don't tell or show you crap about the new game" update..... I remember alot more cool stuff in the updates pre-dating H2.... Frankie, your hands may be tied... but these updates are getting old and stale. We don't want to hear about you playing a new Level, and then you tell us nothing a about the level in question... Either give us real news, or nothing.
I went back and looked again at the book cover everyone is babbling about. That looks a LOT like a Pfhor. ZOMG Marathon crossover!

Well, if the ONI plans to buy Earth some time with their ultra secret plans, that's somewhat good news to hear that they may not be as insidious as the ONI was thought to be through the portrayal of Ackerson. Although, I still have this lingering bad feeling... Observations: The "myraid factions of the Covenant". Separatist Covenant still against humanity? That's some gun the Spartans were holding. The oddball Spartan-looking armored dude-Most interesting. Personally, I don't think it's weird(well it's certainly different) or bad. But not a awesome on the awesome scale. So, I'll just say it's cool. What could this armor be? Hm..thoughts and speculation: -Older Spartan armor -Customized Spartan armor -Next generation of Spartan armor(Spartan 3s? Maybe the ONI wants to create..an army of Spartans?) -Commando or Elite soldier in new armor -Forerunner armor?. The MJOLNIR is compatible with Forerunner standards. And unless there's something else going on, 343 Guilty Spark seems to identify the MC's armor, with him as the previous activator or something. That leads to speculation whether the MJOLNIR resembled Forerunner armor. And if Onyx has Forerunner relics... What else is the ONI and everyone up to?? Other than that, we know there could be vast Forerunner relics left undisturbed if they were buried over time. Something activated when Halo 04 was destroyed? Ghosts of Onyx. Sounds good to me... Ghosts...I wonder this will be referenced in Halo 3. If the divided factions of the Covenant are at Earth, and if said it will be a race to this artifact...

Damn. When Halo 2 PC comes out I'm modding the campaign to replace the Flood with Kilt Wearing Flying Monkeys. Uh, that could be a tricky model to make I guess.
-
when will you get any updates on halo 3 instead of this side stuff.
-
Armor? I thought that was Spartan Underwear.
-
**WARNING: BLIND SPECULATION AHEAD!** ZOMG NEW GUN. I think I might know what it is! I think it's called the GPR-82. General-purpose rifle 82. And it looks like a BR and an AR morphed together, hope that's in H3, but then again the weapons in the books are rarely ever in the game. Althought it would be funny if it was called the BAAR-55 or something like that.
-
Eh. Although the cover art looks hot, seriously, to no one's offense, the unidentified armour looks like... new old scuba wear-- especially the helmet. And to no one's surprise, they're Mark V, VI and other. I can't believe I only picked up on that now... And lastly, what I kinda think the weapon is... a 2552? adaption of... this weapon
Posted by: Twelve Large You think it's just for looks? I'd wear it if it wasn't just for looks. I don't think Spartans have much time to worry about how the armor looks, but rather how it performs in action. That is a strange looking visor, though. It made me think of the pfhor. That most certainly would be an upgrade, no? It doesn't make much sense to produce a unique piece of expensive armor just to protect some grunts. You would think it would be easier and cheaper to mass produce the og mjolnir look (helmet). And it doesn't, that I know of, require any head/face surgery to wear it.
Spartans may not have the time to worry about the looks, but I, as a gamer, do. It is still a game, and I think the look should appeal to the gamer. A third of the reason MC is so cool is the way he looks, especially if you havn't read the books. What else is there to like? You've got they way he looks, his catchy one liners, and the fact that he can flip a tank, all adding up to make him the super badass that he is. That armor would partially ruin the image I have of the Spartans whom I have come to enjoy so much. Of course, this is all my opinion and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to see hordes of Spartans equiped with this "new" armor. I just happen to like the way the recent/current Mjolnir sets have looked. [Edited on 9/8/2006]

I beleive it's the old armor before the spartans got their sheiled armor (fall of reach)
-
Ayayaayayaya! I'm so excited, So many good things HAlo-esque coming our way. I can't wait to sink my teeth into Nylund's latest work! 3 types of mjolnir armor!? Drool! n_N
Posted by: Ziewl Whatever the "crazy looking non-Spartan armor" is, I don't like it. I hope it's old outdated armor, and not what Spartan-IIs or Spartan-IIIs will be wearing. Maybe Ackerson's knock-offs or updated ODST armor. Maybe even the basic marine space combat suit (or wherever else there isn't sufficient pressure/oxygen so sustain human life)
You think it's just for looks?
Posted by: Domain98 Earlier today September 8, 2006 at 8:00 P.M., Bungie sent an e-mail, effectively shutting down a mod of very considerable value to the Halo fans and mod watchers around the world, Halogen. Halogen is a mod that combines Halo and the long standing Command & Conquer series to make Halo a RTS game. Bungie has pulled the plug on this mod because they thought it was 'infringing on the intellectual property of Bungie Studios'. Now all the things they made where made by themselves with using Halo as its base to go off of because they wanted a mod that was an RTS but used Halo instead. Now because Bungie "waited" for the mod to become a real threat to them, they sent them the e-mail 3 years, yes 3 YEARS after they started this mod with a huge amount of it done they stopped them, even though Bungie new that Halogen was a non profit fan based mod that would not harm them at all in sales. As i see it, Bungie had purposely taken 3 years of these men's lifes away from them along with whats left of what they had done for 3 years. Now I am a humble mod watcher, but seeing this kind of foul play made by a corporation of this size makes me take action for this wrong doing. All i am saying is one thing, BRING BACK HALOGEN!
Holy crap I've been waiting for that mod forever...It's the sole reason I bought command & conquer...to have a Halo RTS. My bet is that MS has plans to publish an RTS in the Halo universe...and can't have a free one floating around the internet for those who already have command and conquer. I feel sorry for those guys.
