I mean, yes its food, but its ten years old. Since then, other Halos and other shooters have come out that are way better than this.
Look at Halo 2. That is a masterpiece, and Halo 3 is not far behind.
And Reach, I k ow you all probably hate Reach, but its way better than this game
Be honest, how many reasons for this game being perfect have you got that dont relate to nostalgia? Are you sure you dont just loce this game to bits because it gave you so many happy memories as a child? I loce other game for the same reason. But you cant call CE perfect, not now, you just cant.
The level designs on some parts suck hard. Es
Eciaply Assault on thr Control Room and 343 Fuilty Spark. I play shooters to shoot things, not navigate through a goddamn maze.
So yeah, thats why i thunk you cant call a ten year old game perfect

Nothing is perfect, and many people see past things such as age. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's not fun. A good game is like wine, not food. It ages with beauty. You'll find older games still have the same quality game-play as their modern counter-parts. All there really is different is newer graphics, more weapons, more vehicles, more customization, etc. When it comes to a lot of these things, if you're a PC gamer, you can even bring those things into the older games. I also find it strange you're saying it's silly for us to love a 10 year old game so much then state you think that a 7 year old game in the same franchise is a master piece. Sort of ironic. To be honest, I wouldn't really take your opinion into account as much as someone else's. It seems your feelings towards this subject is completely unstable. How long ago again was it that you supposedly sold Halo 2, the game you say is a master piece, for lunch money? I don't think anyone should take what you say about the subject too seriously due to that. [Edited on 12.22.2011 7:20 PM PST]

I dnt nave a problem with people lovi g the games they do, its just that i dont get how people can still think its a perfect game. Also last night i played the enitire Halo 2 campaign and found it to be spectacular
-
My personal thoughts: I do not think Halo CE is pefect, I think Halo 2 is closer to perfect than CE. And Halo 3 and Halo 2 being on the same level because of theater and forge in Halo 3. I do think, though, that Halo CE Anniversary is better than the original CE. But personally, I do not think there is a better campaign than Halo 2s campaign, at least not a better Halo campaign, but we shall see what 343 has to offer in the near future! And btw, there is not a single other Halo game that I think is worse than Reach! [Edited on 12.23.2011 3:21 AM PST]

I play Halo:CE and still love it as much as I did 10 years ago. That may be nostalgie affecting me, but I physically enjoy Halo:CE and think that it's still fantastic. How is that bad?

The games was never perfect. In fact, nothing is perfect? So your entire thread has no absolutely no meaning. Sorry if I derailed your thread, OP?
-
Who's claiming it's "perfect," at least if we mean "perfect" in a strict sense? As for the rest of it, you already asked in the other thread, and we answered. You said why you thought certain things were problematic, we answered as to why we disagreed. Seems like if there was any conclusion to an of it, it's that the issues at hand were more a question of YMMV than anything else, so I'm a little put off by your new, authoritative OP; I see no reason to stop considering Halo 1 an incredible game because of a few vague blanket statements that I disagree with, made by a single person who wasn't impressed by the game. //========= Oh, and seriously, stop calling AotCR a "maze." At least until you've played a classic shooter from the early to mid 90's. Here, I'll link you to one, made by Bungie! I love other games for the same reason, but im sure there's someone else who would call them pieces of crap
Posted by: Azygos Vein Can't take this thread seriously... Halo 2 a masterpiece? 0/10
If games were paintings, Halo 2 would be the Mona Lisa. Its an absolutely spectacular game. I spent 8 hours playing the entire campaign (yes im that sad) and its just incredible, the storytelling, the gameplay, everything. Maybe with the exception of Quarantine Zone. That level was a bit dull. But all other missions are great. Halo CE is maze of bullcrap

I fail to see how CE is a maze. You never really explained that. You may be using the wrong word, but saying maze implies you found it difficult to find your way around. My 6 year old little brother beat CE, the only level he got lost on was 343. And even then, it took him about 1 minute to get back on track.

Not once have I ever gotten lost on CE. The only level I found that could get players lost was The Library and MAYBE parts of 343 Guilty Spark. Other than that, it's not hard at all to see where you're going, it practically holds your hand with all the arrows on the floor telling you where to go. -
I don't really know why I didn't touch on this before but here it goes: Some games actually cause you to think. You have to use that thing that sits in your head to complete the mission. Sometimes people actually like to use that thing while playing games. If yours isn't up to the challenge then you can go ahead and play mindless campaigns that don't involve any thought what so ever.

I think he actually tried to play it again and either got fed up at dying all the time or got fed up at getting lost all the time. Probably due to his inability to understand what the pointing arrows on the floor mean and why the doors that are green open but the doors that are red don't.
Posted by: Dr Syx OP, please play any of the Marathon games and record it to put on YouTube. That would be hilarious to watch...
This so much. The first level in Marathon: Infinity was confusing as hell for me. Still not sure how I beat it.

I followed the arrows on AotCR but I'd didnt see any on 343 guilty spark And games are supposed to be for fun, not brainstorming.
Posted by: Mark V guy And games are supposed to be for fun, not brainstorming.
You have to "brainstorm" your way through Halo: Combat Evolved levels? Really? Another thing: Some games are for brainstorming. Sometimes people actually like using their brain... You know, because they have one. ;)

Games are supposed to be mindless fun. Not thinking hard about navigating through a confusing level.
Posted by: Mark V guy Games are supposed to be mindless fun. I also suspect that our notions of what things are most conducive to "mindless fun" are not equivalent.

No game is perfect but when I play halo, I almost feel like I am playying a game made by bungie before 2000. and those games also have fustrating mazes for me too man
