Promotional Video Contest
[b]Promotional Video Contest![/b]
Even seen a clip from Bungie promoting their new game that just made you go “wow”? Here’s your chance to make your own video promoting one of Bungie’s games and make them go “wow.”*
Using footage from any of Bungie’s games, from Gnop! to Halo 3, make a 1:30 (max) video promoting that game, or you can sling them all into one video and make a promotion for Bungie Studios, or you film one yourself using legos! The point is, "Be creative". Then post your video on Youtube.com (among others) and post the link here. The contest will go through seven^ rounds of elimination before declaring a victor. Below are the specifications.

Its good to hear from from the judges and others, who are still excited about what we have already done. I can't wait for another opportunity like this. My lifes been crazy lately too, so it hasn't seemed like its been that long of a wait. Congrats on all the accomplishments out there though. Getting hitched and meteorology school don't come easy. And congrats again to all those who submitted a video!

I'd like to apologize as well, everything just took off in my life. Last semester I was at a community college getting some of my gen eds. out of the way, now I'm at the University of Oklahoma studying meteorology, which is supposed to be one of the toughest undergraduate degrees to get at OU. If you really want to know how tough it is, I have about 20 hours of programming to do in a week and this last week I had an assignment due that had almost 150 unit conversions in it. It was very messy. I would like to thank you guys for understanding that stuff happens and being patient during that time. With this contest, everything was opposite from what it usually was. Most of the time we would have a ton of problems with the rules and judging was the easy part. This just went the other way around. Sorry it worked out that way, but I think it just couldn't of been helped. Again, I thank you guys for understanding and thanks again to the people who stood up and helped after everything that happed. Congrats to the winners!

Ok, sorry guys, I've been busy going to weddings, planning [i][b]my[/b][/i] wedding, and lots of little tedious projects at work. I apologize that you've had to wait this long for your results and I'm happy to see that so many of you are being very understanding about it all. (Hey, things come up in peoples lives right. :D) So, let's take the reigns of this uncommanded chariot and get this thing judged. I'll get the results by the end of the week for you all and we [b]will[/b] still award those prizes. In fact, I'm going to throw in some of my personal Bungie swag I have around the house (older Bungie games, some Mylar prints, cd's) just so more people are rewarded for their work. I really can't express how proud I am of the entrants in this contest for their patience and understanding. Butane created the SCC so that we could create these fan-run contests to help bring the community together. Although this contest has had its hiccups, I think it really shows through the great videos and great behaviour what a damn good community this is. Sincerely, my hat's off to you all.

Ok, this is official so consider it the final word: I have been talking to Senor Leche this past week and he has decided to go ahead and pass judgment on the videos. He is, as we speak, at a wedding and will not be back until Tuesday. However, when he does return, he will post the OFFICIAL RESULTS and winners. He's the one dishing out the money so I think it only fair that he be the one to decide who it goes to. Try to hang in there for a couple more days and this will all be over with soon enough.

Well why not all of the people that posted their video judge everyone elses on a scale from 1-5 (include 1.5, 2.35, etc), with 5 being the absolute best? It'll take time for everyone, yeah, but I'd do it. We would have to set a date on when the numbers are to be in. Then someone (Senor Leche?) looks at all of the numbers and puts them together, and whoever has the highest number wins. How's that?

Problem with the poll is, polls are what the people like most (ususally senseless montages) and take nothing that has to deal with other cinematic elements in to account. A few videos are great but I fear no one will vote for them because they don't show stuff blowing up. Judges can take into account the proper elements in a video. Its like MTV movie awards verses the Academy.

We could just split the decision 50 - 50. 50% goes to an open poll and the voting starts...and the other 50 will be the decision of the judges. I bet we could get a mod or two and a member or two who have not submited videos to go and take a look at a couple of videos in their spare time. Cmon guys. We can start a poll for the members and ask KP to pwetty, pwease, make an announcement on b.net page and HBO to attract more votes. This should work and it will give a judge time to watch/judge while the community does their part. I really want the results in...even though I know I am not going to win there is still a chance and I bet we all feel the same.

Money is cool. A good tool, but for me it was the free trip to the Bungie store. We aren't talking about just dropping the prize. We as the Bungie community are coming together to solve a problem and by giving the prize money to a worthy cause. We solve the prize problem, fairly. $100 is a $100 more than what was available before. We resolve to help ourselves by helping others. In this fasion we are all winners. How did I stack up ? With out an official judge pool. The true judgement would be for you to be honest with your self and ask. Where do I stand against the others? For entertainment value, since the prize money would no longer be an issue, some body had mentioned a popular opinion poll. Perhaps keeping votes open to only people who sign into Bungie. This may help to keep the voting fair. Two polls would be interesting. One for B Net members and one for the general public. Having a contestant only poll might work if you are not allowed to vote for yourself. From my point of view. Many of the entries are fantastic. Some telling the story. Some telling of whats to come. Some showing the pure fun of the game.

The prize would still be nice...for those of us who can't buy Bungie swag otherwise. :( I hope the contest lives! Maybe some people who represent the comunity the most Like Louis or some mods or ...I dont know. (louis is gonna kill me .... ^_^)
