•
Posted by: Hawaiian Pig But I've yet to hear from rombo man on how exactly to go about claiming this prize (is it a gift certificate like thing, or is he going to purchase it for me)
I believe if he has your address and the item you wish to buy, he'll purchase it, and have it shipped to the address provided.

 •
Posted by: Twinkie but this was never meant to be a large, cash-prize winning contest in the first place.
Exactly, that is why I have no problem with not recieving anything. Hawaiian Pig, keep the money, you deserve it, your entries were excellent. [Edited on 7/27/2006]

 • Well , shipping for the product I want may go a dollar or two over 25 bucks, which I'm willing to pay I guess, it's well worth it. But I've yet to hear from rombo man on how exactly to go about claiming this prize (is it a gift certificate like thing, or is he going to purchase it for me), and if I'd be able to pitch in for the extra couple dollars or so. •
Posted by: Pezza Congratulations everybody. Oh, and about my prize, it is only $10, I think the shipping costs for a $10 item to my location would be astronomical, I'm thinking of giving it away.

Posted by: just another fan If my prize was ten times the amount it currently is, I could actually get something. The sponsor may keep his cash, or do whatever he wants with it.
It's too bad that shipping is at quite an incline when shipping out of the US from Bungie, but I guess there's some things that don't have a way around them. It's also a bit of a shame to see two of the top three wallpapers not get rewarded, but this was never meant to be a large, cash-prize winning contest in the first place. [Edited on 7/27/2006]

 • Just Another Fan
Because those usually are the good ones. A wallpaper is just that. It shouldn't be something that grabs your attention. It should be something that looks pretty, but not something that makes your eyes draw away from your shortcuts and such. Talking of short cuts, people tend to also fill up the left side of their wallpaper, annoying because it wants you to move away your SC's just so you can look at the wallpaper. Anyway, all of my favorites made it to the second round, on top of that, both of my wallpapers did too! :)
How very true. You definitely know how to make a good wallpaper, and it shows. You have to account for the fact that it's not simply an image, but subtle art. It can't overpower your screen, but it should be nice to look at. An dof course, its always best to keep the focal point in the center or to the right, given that most users keep their shortcuts on the left. Feel free to browse the wallpaper section on my site for some examples of my stuff (and please disregard the older stuff :P, I sucked back then) Here [Edited on 7/24/2006]

 •
Posted by: Hawaiian Pig I dont think you realize just how 'easy' these things are to make... Anyone can slap together a few screenshots and add a few effects... innovation and simplicity are where its at for wallpapers.
Yes, you can over do it...making Wallpapers is an art in itself. Because you have to make sure things will blend or work out pretty well so the user can use the desktop and not be blinded by the Wallpaper.
