Bungie Aerospace is now a corporation TRADEMARK UPDATE: 5/11 Crimson

Please favorite this thread for updates! UPDATE: A new Gamespot article is up about Destiny. Note: For moderately related info on the new IP's plot, check this out. Today, this: (SORRY. This link will get split when posted, and I can't do anything about it, go through the HBO link) https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/bpdLicenseQuery/lqsLicenseDetail.aspx?RefID=672307 was posted on HBO. What do you guys think of Aerospace now? It doesn't seem to be a new game, but instead a branch of Bungie or maybe even a platform like Steam community. • Cross-platform studios don't really need to create a new corporation to code for another platform on the same game.
Posted by: HeyBlade789 Is this the PS3 side of things?
• The new studio is in the downtown area, next to a Barnes and Noble in Bellevue Galleria, while, like you said, Smith and Tinker are near Bellevue college. I know that there's a good number of people from FASA who jumped ship to Bungie. I'm afraid to say that it's something more than an homage, but there's a possibility that rule #39 may apply here. If it's any indication towards anything relevant, here's freedorian. If we're to assume that these new trademarks have any relation to FASA, we may want to take a look at the New Monarchy trademark.
Posted by: justindana Smith & Tinker is just off the 90 near Eastgate and the Mormon Temple. 3120 139th Ave SE # 100, Bellevue, WA Didn't realize Bungie moved out of the Grocery Store...
Oh, and ONE more little thing to keep you thinking... FASA stands for... wait for it... Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration AEROSPACE! SOURCE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FASA_Corporation
Eastern Wyoming, actually. But I spend a lot of time in the Seattle area.
Posted by: Hylebos The 90? I loled. I'm pretty sure Cortana is in Western Washington so she probably would have know what you were talking about anyways.
[Edited on 05.12.2011 10:00 AM PDT]

 • My feeling is this, when Bungie is going multi-platform, they are going PS3, Xbox, Computer, and mobile device. This is a game that you will be able to play anywhere where at anytime. A massive landscape with multiple players where the campaign and quests can easily be changed into FPS multiplayer games. For example, you go into a game playing campaign and you come across an area where there is a multi-player slayer type match going on. You put your campaign on hold and join in the multiplayer game. When that has ended you go back to your quest either alone or with others. My crazy though was that Xbox people could play across platforms with PC people. I think that we are going to be blown away as the release of this game will probably not come out until 2013.
To be fair I have never really played many modern Final Fantasy Games (Really just the 1st one and the 2nd) but I always thought the idea of an Airship was cool...
The Highwind in 7 was a boss.

 • That's a strange name Crimson represents: Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Colours. But this is very interesting.

 • The game "Sword of the Stars" got a tagline quite similar to Bungie aersospace...so we can expect some kind of space combat at least ;) "Per ardua ad astra"

 •
Posted by: justindana
Posted by: cortana 5 At first, I simply assumed that it was merely coincidence, but I feel that it may be nothing more than social connections tied to Bungie. After all, Halo did touch many professional lives. And unfortunately, I doubt we'll be seeing much Crimson Skies-esque games from Bungie because Microsoft owns the creative rights to that IP. Maybe the trademark is some sort of homage to FASA's game? With those connections it would make sense. I'm still stuck on these connections to FASA and Crimson Skies, though. You're not crazy. :) Oh, and where exactly in Bellevue is Smith and Tinker located? Bungie is actually in downtown Bellevue now. I feel conflicted... Grew up in Bellevue and now live in the Encino neighborhood of LA. I won't even get into the parallels of "the 405" up there and down here...

 •
Posted by: Homeboyd903 Assuming this is all true, very nice detective work.
Well, thanks, but with Wikipedia anymore, it honestly wasn't all that difficult... And quickly, for the record, I loved Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. One of my favorite games... waited and waited for a sequel... maybe one day. IIRC it was an Xbox Live launch title... definitely one of the first major Xbox games to do well on the "fledgling" online gaming service. One of my very favorites, well along with the Rallisport games... was really disapointed to not see an current gen sequel to that series as well. Anyway, back to my so-called detective work... Links for those that want to follow me down the Rabbit hole: Bungie Studios: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bungie (from the above Wikipedia entry you can see Jordan Weisman referenced and quoted) Jordan Weisman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Weisman (from the above Wikipedia entry you can follow the trails to FASA, Smith & Tinker, 42 Entertainment and Fyreball (Meteor Solutions). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FASA_Corporation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FASA_Interactive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Tinker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/42_Entertainment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyreball From the FASA or Smith & Tinker pages you can get: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_Skies Nostalgize over Shadowrun and BattleTech/MechWarrior/MechAssault while you're there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowrun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MechWarrior From 42 Entertainment you get: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_Bees From the Fyreball page you get: https://www.meteorsolutions.com/ http://blog.seattlepi.com/venture/2007/12/07/former-bungie-studios-head-lands-cash-for-fyreball/ From the above link: Besides Pete from Bungie, "The Fyreball team includes Michael Evans, the former lead engineer on "Halo" and "Halo 2," as well as Michel Bastien, a lead producer on "Halo 3."" Then you start looking at the parallels, the coincidences and the connections... The name "Aerospace" and the main setting & theme of Crimson Skies? The company that created Crimson Skies was FASA who's roots are in Chicago. But they were bought by and controlled by Microsoft. Sound familiar? Guess who else originally hails from Chicago? Yes, Bungie. FASA's founder, Jordan Weisman now has created a new company (Smith & Tinker) and secured shared control of the Crimson Skies IP (licensed from Microsoft). The company is in Bellevue literally down the street from the also once Microsoft-owned Bungie in Kirkland. Think some of these guys run in the same game circles? Back to Jordan Weisman, creator of Crimson Skies... he also founded 42 Entertainment, the creator of the Halo 2 ARG "ilovebees". Oh, and he also founded another company (Fyreball) with Pete Parsons who some may remember as "Mango"... a rather well known Bungie employee. That company is now called Meteor Solutions... Anyway lots of parallels and coincidences and connections. Just thought it was quite interesting... call me crazy.
