New helmet spotted in Defiant Map pack [1 Year later]

Update, after many years, It's the Knucklehead Radar Now that the Defiant Map pack is officially public, I found some pics on the interwebs that shows a new helmet. Videos below, Frank O'Connor stuttering when asked about new gear (Armor) see 4:10 Frank O'Connor talking to GameTrailers "There's a couple of interesting easter eggs in there" "We do have achievements as we typically do with DLC, and there may be some other things that you will err... find out over the months... but that's all on goona say on that at this point" [smiles] "We are definalty supporting Halo: Reach for the rest of 2011 and beyond, so this is not the last content you will see for Halo: Reach" Video here, time of interest is from 2:01 Pics below, A big large one for the non believers, Oh Yeah! Now with 5 players in FireFight Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Here is a pic of all current available armor, Not a real box-shot just me being creative Comments from key people, bs angel (343 Industries) What do you think, is this a new helmet? Some key points posted over the following pages I want to clear up a few terms here. I have read every page of this thread the last few days, not a post has gone unchecked. Somethings I'm about to go over ARE in fact restatements of things others have said, but none the less need to be stated again. The first thing every intelligent person in this thread can agree on is this: The helmet and chest piece we see in these pictures have never been seen before. Not in Reach, Halo 3, and as far as I can tell, not in any Bungie title, unlike some other armor (security). The second thing we can agree on is that the ONLY spartan to have armor other then default is the fancy British one with this monocle and necklace. This points out one very clear thing for me: they did that on purpose so people could find it, and create 2k+ post threads. That's a free ad right there, better then something you'll see on the sidebar of Facebook. It's the same thing that Bungie did with they're ODST interview videos. One person finds this site, another person finds the code, and now 10k posts later, people are more excited for the game. That's all we're seeing, just in a lower scale. But now the question begs, where did this armor come from? Some people seem to think that it's and old build of the game, and the armor is cut. First off that's near impossible. Why make a map pack for a finished game, but base it off old code? For the map pack would not work on the current build of the game. Secondly, the dev (Certain Affinity) would not even have access to any other build. Thirdly, the building of the map pack began after release, unlike Noble. So this cannot be the answer. So that leaves the possibility of it being hidden on the disk, or being downloaded. Before I get into this, let me say I did not code Reach in any way shape or form, so I do not know the capabilities of the engine fully. What I DO understand is general game design, and how to find things in the "code", which is really just a file directory. In my opinion, I think the new armor is going to be in a download. And that is because I cannot find it on the disk. Now I'm sure people that disagree with me are getting ready to pull out the old "Disk Locked", or "Otto Said balh blah". Here is my rebuttal. It is called "Data Mining". The difference between modding and data mining is that modders just set their credits to 9999999999 and boot up the game. Data mining is the act of looking the games code for things not easily seen on-game. I did not mod my x-box to unlock everything like you may think. Oh no. I'm using a modded version of a program called "MyWarcraftStudio". This allows anyone to enter the file system of the game "World of Warcraft", and then fiddle with them as such. I used to make mods for the game, oh, 3 years ago I think, towards the end of BC. This is besides the point. Using the program, I inserted a Reach disk, and was able to begin to browse the folders. I found folders for every piece of armor, the corresponding attachments, and armor effects. Including UA chest, Officer, Flames, and Bungie Blue Flames. I did not find anything that I could not identify. While it is not impossible I my have missed anything that is still hidden on this disk, however if I did, there is not much more to come. This leads me to why I believe the armor will be downloaded: simple fan cry out. We begged all halo 3 long for Blood Gulch. We got it. We begged since Halo CE for pelicans. We got it, even if it is hidden. We cried to nerf the BR, and yes, we got it. And one of our biggest pleas was for new armor. Why oh why oh why would they not incorporate this into a game that they basically re-built from the ground up? Especially when the focus on a vast armory for the players is one of the main focus points of the game? Now I'm sure a bunch of you that pulled out your other arguments are saying right now that new armor would only be used in the new maps. To think that this could not be fixed with a simple title update would be so naive that it may warrant and IQ test. So ion short, due to me not finding it while physically scrolling through code, the large outcry for it, the simplicity and likelihood of an updated armory system, and the shear near impossibility of a new map being build off an old system, I must come to the conclusion that the most likely outcome is that the code for the new armor's visuals will be beamed to my Xbox when the pack comes out, and the code for wearing it will be beamed when I buy the maps. • The GRD dolls prove this is more than a glitch or mistake. There is a helmet out there for us to find.

 •
Posted by: ZzXxKIAxXzZ this helmet is f**king cool. and no helmet has the eye piece or the side things... and i have seen a few other people wearing it. mostly inheritors though. but here is a possibility. Ok so i know how to get it. Kill at least one BOB on every level of the campaign and youll get it. A BOB is like a skull on halo 3 And the hayabusa on halo 3 was not supposed to be found out for a long time. but hackers ruined it. bungie did not want to make that same mistake. so they made three different spawns for each BOB on the campaign but this is how you get GRD/BOB armor. Kill at least 1 BOB on every level. 343 announced that it is a real helmet but it was not possible to get it until 343 comes together with bungie. So GRD is real its just hard to get. becuase To get A BOB kill is hard itself. you have to find the BOB spawn point. Be prepared to fight it, they are very hard to kill becuase there health is probably same as a hunter. and they also sometimes dissapear in 1-3 seconds sometimes.
what are you talking about? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT AND HAS TRIED THAT. stop going around saying "i know how to unlock" because im 100% sure that once its unlocked there will be millions of posts on how to unlock

 • actually i posted quite a bit on how to get
Posted by: Rory 1201 I think the topic should now be how to get this helmet. We have enough evidence that it is real, now we just have to search, BUT NO ONE IS TRYING!
• Well the big ass eyepiece could be an attachment to gungnir did that cross your mind ever?
Posted by: Archon67
Posted by: JABBERWOCK xeno It's likely both gungir and EOD, there are various glitches that can spawn odd armor combinations. Though none that I know of where you are still controling your charecter...
Doesn't explain the 'collar' piece on the Spartan that has nothing that resembles it; it's a smooth black 'molded' collarpiece. Also, there's nothing that has that eyepiece thing, either. GUNGNIR has a tiny ass camera, not a huge monocle. The little nub on the brow of it, the red light/button/vent thing also has no explanation. It's new in some form or another.
• Haha O my god it pwned you like a girl! ha
Posted by: Sayuri
Posted by: Mister375 I think you're all going to be sorely dissapointed. This is all just a bunch of speculation that has very little grounds for "proof." Though I guess we'll all see in time. Considering this thread was started saying "its coming with the DLC," and look what that got you. I doubt we're going to see any of this crap, in ANY DLC in the future, even from 343i. But go ahead and keep obsessing over it, be my guest.
Actually there is a title update coming that will allow 343i to modify the game of reach in ways never before possible =) So looks like your negativity is wasted here XD
•
Posted by: lucariomaster117 So I have this theory on how to get the GRD helmet. Its a long shot but just hear me out. On November 15th Halo CEA was released. The day before that, the new Halo Waypoint update was released. On waypoint you can enter the codes seen at the end of the Halo CEA terminals. On the code screen there are tons of unused codes (not seen in terminals, plus theres room to enter 10 characters even though theres only 5 for every terminal. The GRD helmet first appeared in the defiant map pack images. Theres 3 maps in the defiant map pack and 7 in the anniversary map pack. Thats a grand total of 10. I believe that on each map there is a forerunner letter that when entered into the waypoint code screen along with the rest from the other maps, will unlock the GRD helmet. This is just a theory so dont go flaming in the comments about the existince of the GRD. And before you say "Hurr durr we'll never get GRD!", people said the same thing about recon and look at it now. TLDR; The anniversary maps and defiant maps may contain codes that when enetered into halo waypoint, may unlock the GRD helmet.
THIS, now this i believe is possible

 • To spartanna boy on page 3 :) Bethesda games are coded differently... Bethesda can make new item slots in the game for new armour and weapons etc. But reach was coded so that new things like armour or weapons cannot be added, plus reach is online, bethesda games are not. I should know I love Bethesda games. [Edited on 12.13.2011 8:03 AM PST]

 • Modded or a spawn glitch? From what I've heard defiant maps are quite glitchy.

 •
Posted by: isaacwurm Something else I noticed: On the enlarged 1st image, the "new" helmet's color is darker than the rest of the red Spartan. OT: I think that it is impossible to add new armor to Reach, but it is possible to UNLOCK armor to use. So it is possible to release armor along with the Map Pack by Unlocking the armor.
Hazop Helmet is lighter than the rest of armor, why not make one that's darker?
