It has come to my attention that there is a feature called "bookmarking" on my browser and every other supported browser, so I think that we should remove the "Saved Threads" feature from this site. It wouldn't be a big deal, would free up some extra space on the navigation bar, and it could all be solved by other means. If users wanted it back, they could either use bookmarks or write a script which replaces it.
Posted by: RighteousTyrant IMO this falls under bad/unfunny. It's very transparent and I don't see how so few caught on early.
I think I will lock this, seeing as it has taken a turn for the worse and as there isn't much more that can be gained from allowing this thread to continue. As for falling for it, I blame 4 hours of sleep >_> However I think this presented a very clever counter argument to the main Flood thread, some of us much be careful not to stray into hypocrisy.

Lol subtle satire.

I'd much rather just keep the "save thread" feature than fill up my Bookmark bar with random B.net links.
Posted by: Zaltyre OP, do you also recommend the search bar gets removed because we have google? The Saved Threads feature is a useful feature for Bungie.net, and is better than a bookmark- you can check number of posts and other things without visiting each thread you have saved.
I'm not going to lie, no one actually uses the search bar to search for threads. Perhaps, we should replace that part of the feature with something more popular to search for the good of the community. But seriously....this is a terrible idea. [Edited on 02.02.2011 11:09 AM PST]
Posted by: westpointusma15 I don't want like 20+ bookmarks just for saved threads. I don't see why you feel it should be removed, if you don't have the need to use it, then don't.
Are you kidding me? It's just a bookmark, it's so easy. If you can't get with the times and stop being lazy then you don't deserve to use the feature. It is for dedicated members only. If you want to use it, you can always download a scrip or use your bookmarks folder. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here. I don't see what the big deal is.

I use the Saved Thread feature all the time. It actually serves a purpose on this website. Why remove it to free up space in the drop down bar for something that isn't used as frequently. Unlike the Flood forum which is supposed to be an off topic forum and a last resort for forum goers wishing to discuss a topic. [Edited on 02.02.2011 11:05 AM PST]
We can remove that too and let scriptwriters deal with it. This site is about Bungie, and just because these threads are popular, it does not mean they are important to the community. These threads may be the most popular on the site, but they're sometimes not exactly welcoming to new members. They get too much attention, and too many people use them. In fact, we should replace them with "bottom forum-topics", ones that have gotten the least posts after existing for a certain amount of time. There might be a reason that these threads are not as popular, but that doesn't matter. We can make them equally popular by featuring them over the top forum topics.
Absolutely.
Posted by: squirrel dude Sorry, but I don't have room for that many bookmarks. Seriously, I think I have over 30 saved threads. I probably need to get rid of some. I just don't have room to do that. I think it's a good feature, and I unless there is a new feature that we must have, and it is preventing it from being created/put in place, I don't see why it should be removed.
But you have to prove your dedication. People not willing to add bookmarks, those who don't have space, those who are too lazy, those who are browsing from mobile devices, and those who are using this site from machines they don't own or can't modify do not belong in the Flood. Sure, it may be a feature you all use, but we need to make room for other features, you see because they are underused for absolutely no reason. The Halo 2 forum is an important part of the site and needs to be used more.

I'm glad to see parody threads making appearances again, their presence was missed. However OP, if you're making the thread you obviously think the issue is important enough to satirize (and thus call into question). I have yet to see how the removal of the hyperlink to the Flood under the community tab has caused this insurmountable detriment to these forums that many members are making it out to be. It seems more that people are arguing and complaining for the sake of arguing and complaining (seeing as how most of the objections raised are laughable). Perhaps you can enlighten me as to why exactly this is a problem. [Edited on 02.02.2011 10:59 AM PST]

I actually like the saved threads. I don't want to waste my book marking space on bungie threads. That's kind of dumb. I have work related stuff saved in my book marks.

As a loyal member of Bungie.net I support this change. [Edited on 02.02.2011 10:55 AM PST]
