Elites vs. Brutes vs. Hunters

Lets say you had two different fights a standard elite vs. standard brute vs. standard hunter, who would win? And lets say you have a fight with Elite Zealot vs. Brute Chieftain vs. Some ultra powerful hunter who would win?

 • Good question. Would depend on weapon load out but I would say, from winner to loser, Elite > Brute > Hunter The Hunter is too slow, you can kill the thing just by running around and shooting it in the back with a standard weapon. The Brutes don't seem as disciplined or as deadly as the Elites either, plus the Elites move around from side to side all the time so even a Chieftain would have a hard time hammering one to death. Plus Elites have swords so once you get one of them out, anything is dead. Having said that if you put them all in a tiny room the Hunter will simply smack them both to death so it depends really. Even playing field, large area, Elites for sure.

 • Hunter, for sure. When the Elites invaded Te they were destroyed by the Lekgolo. The only reason they won was because they threatened to glass the planet.

 • "Some ultra powerful Hunter" would be a Scarab. A fuel rod Zealot/Chieftain could actually take one down if they had skill.

 • Elite with an Energy Sword would dominate IMO.

 • Like always, everything is faster and deadlier in the Haloverse, with the exception of things that happen extremely often in the Halo games, like reloading, frag throwing, and switching weapons. It'd be hard to predict who'd win in a fight, because we've not been presented enough cinematic material to make a safe assumption. We have been presented a good amount of material with Spartans and Elites, but even though the amount is good, it doesn't accurately represent the characteristics of Spartans and Elites according to the books. Yeah, I know it's Ensemble, and not Bungie, but since people seem to often throw this in with Bungies Haloverse, How in the holy hell does a Marine with nothing but old fashioned armor plating pin an Arbiter when Master Chief, John 117 himself, struggled with an Elite, post-SpartanII-augmentation? Things just don't line up, and on a regular basis, and since the books are now more consistent with the Canon than the Games, I think it's better to go off of what the Books suggest. I think Elites would definitely have the upper hand against Brutes. Primarily because of their cool nature, in opposition to the Brutes Hot-head nature. Sure, they both go for glory in the end, but Brutes play with their enemy; Elites just kill them. I think it wouldn't be too difficult for a Brute to get the upper hand against a Hunter, primarily because Brutes can use multiple weapons systems, and Hunters are stuck with a mid to long range weapon with a slow projectile. A lone Hunter would be hard pressed in CQC, even against a couple of grunts, which is why they're deployed primarily as Support Weapons than as troops. They aren't a joke, but at the same time, they are considerably slower than Elites and/or Brutes. In the end, it's pretty obvious, the order that most people will end up with, because that's how the picture is portrayed. If it weren't so, then the title of this thread would probably be in a different order. [Edited on 11.18.2010 4:22 AM PST]

 • hunter. I read somewhere the armor they wear is akin to battleship plating. They also have a sword the size of the Chief on their left arm, and an anti-aircraft cannon on the right. In Reach they're also surprisingly quick. (Reach being a closer interpretation of the different species then the other games) Just as well they bulldozed the Elites on Te, so I think the obvious winner is Hunter. • I would say the Elite would beat the Hunter but the Brute would beat the Elite, Halo 2 taught me that, and the books... Elites are nimbler but Brutes can take more of a hit.
