• Legendary Solo tips (yes I'm part of that 5% :) ): Don't rely on Kat. She's an idiot when it comes to shooting anything. Grab a needle rifle when facing Hunters. Shoot a super combine into the neck from far away (far enough to dodge their fuel rods) and you will kill within a magazine or two. When facing elites either try to assassinate them or carry a PP and a head shot weapon. Great update. Glad I am in the top 10% as far as rank and I will have a chance to become Lt. Colonel before you raise the cap.

 • Well for all those playing through on legendary remember overcharged plasma pistols kill the shields, if you have a pistol or dmr, or basically anything, finish em off! Oh and i have every achievement, can you make a statistic for me :P

 • I really can't understand why people are making out that the legendary campaign is so difficult, I got my copy of Reach at about 10am on the release date and finished it about midnight on legendary and that's with about a 2 hour break in between. I wasn't even racing through it to prove I could do it either just got hooked because it's simply the best Halo campaign to date. The only tips id really give about the campaign on legendary is just take it an enemy at a time don't just think you can run into a covenant group guns blazing also found myself conserving the power weapons hiding them along the mission until a big group or hunters, vehicles came up then it made it easy mode. As for achievements im on 48 of 49 hoping to get to lt. col later tonight (:

 • honestly I do enjoy the plasma pistol it does save your ass when ya need it most. Though I usually prefer to carry a rocket launcher or fuel rod gun always feel it would be needed. As far as the legendary ya Reach is pretty hard but the flood are dicks on legendary so its a tough call. Last level-wise I liked Halo CE more for the warthog run I always love the warthog scramble kinda rush ya need and Reach doesn't really have it other than the Sabre level :(

 • Ouch.....now I do feel more special lol. Well the only thing that I would love to see anyways is a more challenging weekly challenge. Though 50 firefight rounds is a pain since most ppl probably don't like playing firefight. Other than that, the list of people still at warrent officer does explain why the level cap wouldn't be raised anytime soon more than the security details (1%=wow). Oh and of that 1% what percent is legit anyways now thats a good question there. Last notes: NEED INFECTION GAMES, KEEP ARMOR LOCK, MAKE WEEKLY CHALLENGES HARDER, AND LOVE GRIFBALL!!!

 • What about Game, Set, Match? How many have completed this achievement without tampering with game settings? I haven't been able to beat a single Round without dieing, much less an entire set. Can anyone contribute to this search?

 • I am one of the 5% that got "A Monument to All Your Sins" Ill give a few tips if you restore my campaign status, cause i completed legendary then all of the sudden, a bug destroys my campaign progress, i really don't want to start over.

 • Personally I find playing Legendary on co-op harder than solo, though for me the hardest (and most satisfying to complete) Legendary so far was Halo CE. I just found a decent tactic was to work with the AI teammates to share the attention (rather than storming in and becoming a plasma sponge) and I pretty-much always had a plasma weapon (plasma pistol, plasma repeater or plasma rifle) to whittle the shields and then a precision weapon to finish them off (pistol, DMR or Needle Rifle), then it was just headshots all the way. So pretty-much what everyone else has said. The only thing I would say is that although the new assassination animations look cool, I wouldn't really attempt one unless you're 100% guarenteed success, as more often than not the subject you're sneaking up on has eyes in the back of their head and they will often turn around at the last second and put a elite-shaped footprint in your visor. Also - don't trust the AI on the gun turret of your Hog unless it's a Gauss Hog, otherwise they seem to stare down the enemy until you get close enough to lean out and hit them as you pass, at which point the enemy vehicle will almost always cut you down. The thing that makes me laugh is that I have a friend attempting the solo compaign at the moment, and I'll often hear him repeating the same sequence about 30-odd times just because he refuses to use the plasma/precision combo because it's "noobish" - apart from being a meme born from the Halo 2 MP days that is no-longer valid I see it pretty-much as common sense if you want to stand a chance at surviving solo Legendary. Each to their own, however. [Edited on 10.10.2010 5:56 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: ExaltedVanguard Avoid fights when possible. Plan for the big ones. See the 4 hunters guarding the generator? They'll eat you alive. Make a run for it and try to get past them. That's a fight you're not going to win. Have to fight through packs of brutes, including chieftains to get to that Anti-Air switch? A jetpack up the side of the building can save you a lot of respawns. It's always good to plan ahead. Save power weapons if you have to. That rocket launcher on Sword Base looks like the perfect tool for killing the nearby revenant, but a plasma pistol works just as well. Why not save the rockets for the hunters later in the mission? Brutes.... are really easy! Needles in brain! The needler (and its cousin, the needle rifle) will absolutely destroy brutes. It will send them running and screaming back to their mothers. And then they'll scream in terror too. Keep a needler close on brute-heavy levels like exodus. I'd bring up the noob combo, but that's been said a bazillion times...
Not you again ^^

 • Well I woke up earlier than i should have, got bored, so I'm deciding to finally post something on forums. These are just a few tips I got from legendary compaign solo (I dont have live so it kept me busy for a good like 9 hours). Wraiths are really evil, with amazing aim..., so you should try to headshot the turret gunner and then do some amazing sprint action to jack it, plus it saves you a bunch of time since the wraith's blast is epic. It's legendary, so no hard feelings to the enemies (elites preferrably) if you stumble upon the noob combo of dmr/needle rife and plasma pistol. It is a life saver, especially in pillar of autumn, idk how I woulda done it without the plasma pistol (and the secret ammo bin thats stuck in the wall). Take your time with enemies, don't rush through or randomly shoot, line up your shot to the head and get it done, it's gonna take time, but it'll save you time instead of dieing like 15 times. And take the smaller enemies out first, they always seem to get away and start shooting you relentlessly while youre trying to get the bigger ones. If you're with noble team, have them go out first. they dont die so they can get some (or most) of the job done and you can come in with a quick headshot. Hunters are fairly easy, even in the one with the 2 in the sword base (sprint into them, and draw one outside, so you can deal with one while the other is unable to shoot you). Just grab a shotty, or any gun for that matter, and just run circles around it. it will constantly try to do that reverse smash if you are close enough, and it has some delay time, so just fire at its open back. Unless you are in a tank/wraith/thingie thats like a wraith/ghost combo, I wouldn't get into a vehicle. They are just big targets and the AI that is either driving or gunning sucks. So just use them for transportation, get out, headshot some dudes, then drive off. Sword is better than shotty, try to find one the hold onto it. It's not a bad idea to hold whatever button you use to pickup weapons, then get 3rd weapon, and alternate picking up and running with them so you can have a 3rd power weapon incase of a sticky situation (I do this with rockets or a sniper). Armor lock is a life saver. Emile is practically useless. If a detachable turret is lying around, go grab it. Try to get those BoBs and switches. On the package, run through most of the stuff and while defending that chicks lab, get a jet pack and jack a banshee (it's really easy, they are everywhere. It was a piece of cake after that. and take out ghosts, they drill through you). Luring is a good tactic, use it if you can. Try to assassinate as many elites as you can in the covanent ship level, and let the invisible elite draw it's sword out before killing it. Sorry all that it was kinda long and boring, I just poured my thoughts as I was thinking about it. Hope it helps.

 • Thanks for the update Sketch. My advice for legendary solo is, as Hooey75 said, use the plasma pistol overcharge. When fighting elites, having that will save you a ton of time and ammo. Overall it took me 9 hours 50 minutes 1 second, with 1,845 kills and 191 deaths.

 • Legendary solo...best advise...DO NOT THROW YOUR CONTROLLER AGAINST THE WALL!...and make use of the plasma pistol's overcharge. Oh and one more bit of advise...when playing "The Package"...forget about keeping the turrets going...make your stand with the other spartans. Good luck! [Edited on 10.10.2010 1:48 AM PDT]

 • I'm guessing that people who don't play live are more likely to have beatten the game on Legendary by them self. The game is a bit easier than Halo CE. Only due to not having a level like the Library. I do not want to repeat the madness of beating the L:brary on Legendary without dying. All around Halo Reach is a better game hands down. It's well polished.

 • A few days ago I just got Lt. Colonel and now have all the achievements. Pretty sick. Great update. For legendary, playing it through on heroic first helped me a lot. Going back for checkpoints, conserving ammo, and taking the covenant steps at a time will help you get it in no time.

 • its nice to see that bungie is keeping track of what achievements the community has(n't) gotten (and how terribly mind-f**kingly tedious some are). that being said, i've probably assassinated the same elite maybe 20 times, successfully, and still not gotten the achievement. does anyone know if bungie is planning on making this achievement less of a freak accident and more of a true test of skill? oh, and ive never gotten it to work, but i heard that if you (spoiler alert) grab a jetpack while defending halseys lab, and get a friend to distract an elite, you can jet up to the right height and cave that poor, unsuspecting a-hole's head in.

 • I'm still in progress of Legendary, but sadly, not on my account. Just one of 4 on a friend's xbox setup. All I would really like from Bungie for Halo Reach is this, and this only, just because everything else I like: I'd like to play one game mode, one game mode only on match making. Not a mix of different game plays. I like to play Big Team, but having to play elite slayer, sniper, head hunter, and CTF against my own votes and before forced to play the game modes I do not want to play because of the possible punishments from the game, and gamer profile reviews. I have seen it many times in game that a player would get a few kills then go AFC (away from controller?) for the rest of the game round. Once I heard a AFC player at the end state that he is also tired of playing game modes he wish not to play. I am glad I am not the only one feeling this. Hope to see you out on the game field!

 • 47 on 49 achievements. Damn the road to captain is long! Took me around 16 hours to beat the campaign on heroic + Legendary. Playing it alone isn't that hard after you look closely at it. The worst parts are when Zealot class or Ultra class elites are bundled up, rushing your DMR spot. I've found a cheap-yet efficient way of surviving the Dr Halsey Lab defense, and I don't know if its known or anything, but those rock sure form a good barrier! Fun timez indeed, gratz Bungie :p
