The Seventh Spartan: Arete Seven, or Noble 7 [UPDATED 9/4]

I've been thinking about Noble 6, and the size of the spartan team. Due to Bungie's affinity for the number 7, I wondered why they would stop one spartan short. That's when I remembered about This Interesting Thread I saw a while back. If you haven't seen that thread, I suggest you give it a read, both to understand this post, and because it's a pretty cool find. Also, please don't comment unless you've read the post. Now, Arete can be translated from Greek to "Noble" in English, thus giving us Noble Seven. I find this a bit too obvious to be a coincidence with the very close "Noble Six," the protaganists of Bungie's final Halo game. Also, during the first 30 seconds of theOnce More Upon the Breach trailer, some interesting comments can be heard from Tung about a certain group of seven. This leads me to believe that there will be a seventh spartan reveiled somewhere along the campaign. How this would happen, who that spartan would be, and why they did not just start out with seven spartans to begin with I do not know. I am aware that this is all just speculation, but I would find it odd if Bungie didn't have a seventh spartan hidden somewhere or another with the given circumstances. If you have any thoughts or theories, feel free to put them here. I would like to keep this thread alive for as long as possible, because I might have overlooked some things that other members might be able to help with. I will update if any new information comes up.

*Edit*: 7/30 Here is some info I was previously not aware of: In ODST the following license plate numbers can be seen- spartan code names and there respective identities- KNL 259C - Carter-259, Noble Leader KNO 320K - Kat-320, Noble One KNT 293T - Thom-293, Noble Two/Three (?) [KIA] KNT 052J - Jorge-052, Noble Two/Three (?) KNF 266J - Jun-266, Noble Four KNF 239E - Emile-239, Noble Five KNS 312X - XXX-312, Noble Six [Lone Wolf] KNS 344R - Sierra-344, Noble Seven My personal #1 guess now would be S-344, whoever that is, will be Noble 7. Thanks to crakapleez911 for this info. If you want to see the complete list of license plate easter eggs in ODST, Here they are. Note that Noble Team members are listed as either KNT or KNS. *Edit*: 8/4 Here is the "Noble 7" McFarlane action figure shown at comicon. I know that this was made for promotional purposes, but I think this is one more small piece of evidence that there will be a Noble 7. I personally find that this is not at all what Noble 7 would actually look like, as it looks too much like a combination of Carter and Noble 6... *Edit*: 8/5 I should have put this in here sooner- but here it is incase anyone hasn't seen this yet. Here is some info on S-344. It shows S-344 is a likely candidate to replace Emile should he continue to have disciplinary problems or die. This strengthens my opinion on S-344 being Noble 7. *Edit*: 8/14 I completely forgot about this. Its nothing big, but there is a redacted Firefight voice in the list of voices Bungie has shown us. It could honestly be any one in the campaign that hasn't been shown yet, but I'd put my money on Noble 7. *Edit*: 9/4 Well, I do believe quit an important piece of information has turned up in regards to the existence of Noble 7. During Bungie's PAX panel, they said, among other things, that "Bungie claims that they wanted the team of Noble Six - who were originally meant to be Nobel Seven, Bungie revealed - to feel instantly recognizable, that, like the world of Reach, they had existed and lived before the player has ever had a chance to meet them in the game." It most certainly seems that, though they originally planned to have a group of seven spartans, they decided, for whatever reason, to drop the count to six. Even a picture of the concept art of Noble 7 can be seen in the link. You can see two female spartans, rather than one. I believe that, from the license plates from ODST, that this cut female spartan was spartan 344R, possibly named Rebecca. This explains alot of the earlier commentary regarding "the seven samauri" and "the magnificent seven" comments from Tung, as well as the post-it-notes found in the Once More Upon the Breach trailer. Does this mean that Noble 7 will not be seen within Reach, I do not know. This does show that, however, Noble 7 was meant to be shown from the very beginning, and the fact that she is still unknow suggests very little involvement in the main story. Also I am quite positive that Master Chief is not Noble 7. Not only is he highly unlikely to show up in Reach, it would also not make any sense even if he joined Noble Team. If you just stop and think about it, there are much more likely candidates than the hero of the other halo games... [Edited on 09.04.2010 6:36 PM PDT]
