•
Posted by: digitalKiva
Posted by: NavyMSU Feedback feedback: Constructive notes on Bungies feedback methods. If you want good feedback, have a direct feedback submission method: I don't want to scroll through countless pages of inane banter to find out if others have similar experiences or opinions. I just want to make sure Bungie receives my issue - whether its a repeat or not, it shouldn't take much time for a reviewer to say "oh, I've seen this before, I'll label it as 'issue xyz' and move on". We know you won't be fixing everything over the next two weeks (maybe network issues), so its our view that you have time to get through these. This will also help Bungie employees - less employees will have to scrounge through the forums looking for new topics. Submission queue issues can be sorted/tagged - when an employee reviews a submission, they can tag them with keywords or add them to 'similar to xyz' queues that can be reviewed separately by the engineer/developer who is responsible for those issues. I don't know how Bungie is sorting through the forums and making sure the right people get the feedback, but I think it's probably not as effective as it could be. Lastly, I'm a software engineer for Boeing/NASA (you could hire me to do this); we have web-based issue resolution tools that track reports from our reviewers and tracks engineering notes (stores everything in a searchable/sortable database). If we relied on forums for this type of tracking, it would take us months to comb through and figure out what is an acceptable issue and what we can reject as either not possible or not a sane response: One recent reviewer tried to tell me that the unsigned integer value of 255 could be represented by 4 bits, I responded with a 2 page, single spaced, white paper on [2^N]-1, my manager didn't appreciate that very much).
Couldn't have said it any better myself. I am a software engineer for Motorola and have collected a handful of bugs that I would like to report to Bungie but am fearful that posting something on the 'Halo: Reach Beta Feedback' forum is just going to get lost.
I agree. I have worked as a quality assurance tester for another video game company, and I would like to submit my bugs without duplicating bugs that have already been dropped. I had one bug ready to be dropped, with repro steps, repro rate, etc. But I searched through the forums one last time and found that it had been posted as an afterthought in another post that I had overlooked while previously searching because of it's subject line. There definetly needs to be some sort of organization.

  • So would it be better for us to report bugs in te beta feedback forum rather than emailing them to the bnet bugs email address? I want make sure before I send any unwanted emails.

The ability to search within a specific Forum would be beneficial. Thank you, drive through.

  • Bungie, could you please make some method of reporting bugs like launchpad or bugzilla (or even e-mail). The forums.... don't work. Like, at all. Not even a little bit.

  • So far I love the Beta the only problems I have is that so many times I have been insta killed by grenades with full shields and full health. They are to over powered. I think they should be touned down and bring back the four grenades just like the first Halo. The second thing is active camo isnt strong enough every one can see you when ur running. Third I think sprint should last longer, seeing how it isn't as useful as the other armor abilities. The last thing is although the new pistol is better than the privious Halo 3 pistol, it still shoots at a limited fire rate. I think if the pistol was actually semi-auto, like the Halo 2 pistol, it would be much better and much more liked. Well I hope this helps Bungie make a better Reach

  • I have a few bugs to report as well: 1) Several times when i fired the Focus Rifle the beam didn't actually show up, bit it did appear to damage the enemy 2) The shotgun is too powerful- people witht he shotgun seem to be able to beat anything, even a rocket or a sword at close range!

  • Probably the wrong place to put this but my only problem with the beta is the DMR, it is a very good weapon but I just feel it needs a fix in a few areas. 1. 4 shot: at the moment it takes 4 shots to bring a shield down and one to the head, I think it should be brought down to four, because its something we (halo 3/2 players) are use to. 2. Ammo: This also goes with my first problem, it only holds 12 shots but takes 5 to get a kill, that means you can get two kills but there is always someone who is using scout and is sprinting right for you after that second kill, you will get off two rounds, and bam your dead because you got caught reloading, but if it is set to a four shot kill 12 rounds would be perfect and help the player feel a little safer with an extra kill in their clip during a heavy fight, but if 4 shot is not brought back I'd say maybe 15 rounds or maybe even 20. 3. Power: It has a great aim, but I feel it just needs alittle more of a bang! I mean the DMR is supposed to be a step or two down from a sniper rifle, it should have the power like it, again my 4 shot point comes up, I'm not saying make it gods right hand or something but to the point where if you find some poor soul wandering around with no shield squeeze off a round and whether in the head or not...thud.

  • 1.Grenades grenades grenades are too over powered! at least a 100 or more go off every match, its out of control! Please fix...Make character spawn with 1 grenade each life, and he cant pick up grenades?just a thought:) 2.Melee is way too over powered!need more gun fights and less boxing matches...cut the melee distance in half, would help alot thanks :) 3.graphics need to be better, looks good but not good enough. Maps feel dead, need to put map hazards into maps to bring them to life,or rain/snow/volcano's? 4.Bigger maps! way bigger please, sword base is not very good! get rid of it,or make it more open and bigger? 5.DMR Rifle is not very affective, needs more power and it sound like a BB gun... Thanks Bungie Reach rocks!Feels like Halo 1 :) \../ \../ apart from all them grenades and boxing matches [Edited on 05.05.2010 8:21 AM PDT]

  • i cant figure out how to post to this so i have to reply to this sorry. for me the maley isnt good its way to fast in halo 3 it takes a few second to maley again in the beta all of a sec. thats way to fast. pluse if half their armor is gone and you have full amor and you both maley at once its an even match afterwords. thats just stupid. if their armor is a little down the maley should be powerful enough to kill the other person. the granads need their blast radius reduced and a little power taken down but not much. the guns for real need to be powered up. i unloaded a whole clip of ar on a guy he turned and kept running. but the dmr and the needler riffle need to be less powerfull from range so ppl cant just use them as snipers. they will sit across the map and hit you while you running and geting ready to fight ANNOYING. the sword map needs some more walls to make it hard to shoot downwords at ppl while they are trying to come across to get to the enemy. thats all ppl do on that map and that is also ANNOYING. please bring a better battle rating or something so ppl dont have to be put againts enemys who are 10 times better. it happens to me alot and its just not a fair game. not the armor abilities besides sprint are just dumb everyone uses the armor lock or jet packs and they get an advatage to the game. the sprint i have to say awsome job on bring that it i love it. but the active camo SUCKS ur inviable but can be seen? WTF? really? name is above you and the camo isnt very good. if i buy this game big if haveing full inviseablity and sneakyness would piss me off but its fair but not fair enough if you leave it as an ablitliy. take it off the abalitys and bring back the orb and thats completely fair. after the armor is down it takes 2 to 4 shots to kill someone bu making the guns more powerful should help that out. and last for now would be make better armor the armor you have on the beta is alright but to big and goddy looking i would perfer smaller slicer looking armor not big bulky armor. so bungie please listen to what is being said here if this games ends up like halo 3 ill just save my money and play halo 3 and all the cheaters laggers and way to damn good ppl wil be playing reach so ill have a better chance of geting a fair game again on halo 3.

  • I found that in Team Swat when you switch from the DMR to the magnum, sometimes in the top right corner it still displays the rounds from the DMR over the magnum

  • Radar gitch while being invisible. Sometimes after turning invisible my radar doesn't get jammed but remains normal and allows me to easily find enemies. While this is good for me I thought I would address this. Just letting you know that your own radar doesn't get scrambled everytime you turn invisible p.s. I don't know if this is intentional but I sometimes get my kills stolen while im assassinating an enemy

  • I think the aiming reticle should be able to be customized by color and shape. Some fights are very hard to see the reticle and you just blind fire where if I was able to make it red or green or whatever, it would work a lot better.

  • The melee speed is too fast, you should not be shunned to instant death after being in melee range and still going for the headshot. Grenades need to be toned down just a little bit, just to make them more balanced. They seem to do more damage than they should. Weapon swap and pick up animations are not smooth at all. Keep doing what your doing, (except ^) Doughnut

  • I´m wondering, why have you changed the names of the medals like assasination is now called beatdown and beatdown is now called pommeled? also when you hit people with the weapon it almost feels like when using the sword you jump forward pretty far, don´t know if it´s a bug or not! I sure hope the maps in the whole game will be as awesoem as the pit and guardian from Halo 3 some reall gameplay. Thanx, having a pretty good time with the beta ( don´t like sword base at all I think it´s a retarded map )
