Today Microsoft announced that as of April 15th they discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games (i.e.Halo 2). This includes Xbox v1 games being played on an Xbox 360.

To everyone who has played, enjoyed and supported Halo 2 for it's 5+ years of dominance on Xbox LIVE, we thank you! It is of course sad for any of us to accept the end of an era but it's been a good ride.
That said, mark your calendars now - on April 14th we're going to hit Halo 2 en masse for one last HOORAH, old school style.
-
yes sketch plz put halo 2 on xbox live marketplace
-
I have to admit that it was fun finding out glitches and just plain old killing on ivory tower. same with zanzibar on matchmaking...... it really stinks that they are taking it away. bungie probably thinks that matchmaking is an insult to themselves because halo 2 is and old game and that they only think the new game are "cool."
-
yeah... it was pretty fun when you could run around on lockout and make sweet no-scopes............

Listen mr. adult don't kid yourself. Halo 2 was originally release on xbox first, had bridgers, standbyers, modders, cry babbies, Ranks, matchmaking, Lvs, leaderboards "on top list at bungie", PC was a port for vista only, you needed to upgrade first to vista then buy more RAM, graphic card, bad port, nothing to look forward but custume servers and lag each time a player joins, not to mention you need xbox 360 controller because controller players have auto aim which is consider boot aim, yet you think pc port is true version? laughable.
This guy just owned anyone that has or will say something about Halo2 vista.
He can't own this. PC hardware is better and cheaper, h2x has aim too, and it works on 7 too. Someones a nolagista f@g.

guys just join x box connect http://xbconnect.com/ lot of active players me and my partner play daily we find good games but we need to expand the players base to get more variety make an account and add me hobgoblin and please spread the word so we can all play halo 2 online again
-
I rarely played online, but always in custom games or campaign with my friends.
-
It isn't dead to me because I play xbox connect all the time.
-
May Halo 2 R.I.P., still wish I had gotten the chance to play it's online multi-player.
-
Sigh, I love Halo 2. It being cut from Live also means that it is no longer possible to get Desolation or Tombstone at all, not even on Vista. I wish the multiplayer map pack disc came with those two, those are the only two maps that I will never have the opportunity to play.
-
xbc works doesnt it if it works please tell me
-
Wait... H2V still works? Awesome (I mean I'd rather have console but better than no H2.)
Posted by: Duardo This is unfortunate :( My first online gaming experience was Halo 2. The first time I played was November 9, 2004 at about 1:55 AM. I played one game of Basic Training on Ivory Tower, and ended up in first place. Then I joined my friend for a custom game on Lockout. I'll miss you Halo 2 *salutes* April 14 - One Last Time
why couldnt you stop microsoft or bungie with your friends?
-
How disapointing. Well then perhapes a remake is acceptable? Come now bungie, microsoft. What halo fan would not want to buy a halo 2 with a reach engine?

Or maybe Halo 2 Vista is a RUINED FOREVER version of Halo 2.
-
It sucks, I wanted to play Halo 2 matchmaking for the fun of it today, and at my surprise it has already been disabled in april, oh my.... Why dat crime ? The best match Halo ever, much better than halo 3 and absolutely Reach that I find totally garbage. Please, bring back Halo 2 matchmaking, thanks !
-
I hate to see Halo 2 go. It was my favorite game, even when halo 3 came out.
-
I agree
-
My first online game, my first online anything, it goes all the way back to a game of Slayer on Lockout, an 8 year old kid, pwned some noobs and won the game after waiting out at midnight. I love Halo 2, now and forever *salutes*
