So gamestop.com and ebgames.com are selling 360 preorders. Only in package deals. I think the cheapest you can get away with is like $600-$700. They pick the games for you and add in a couple extras. Funny thing is, it is no cheaper than if you bought the components seperately. Why you ask? For greater profit margin. Period. End of sentance. Anyone who has worked in retail knows that hardware usually makes the stores very little money (6%). The real money is in software and periphrals. I am guessing 30-40%, maybe even 50%. Take for example a printer for your PC. The printer is actually free. What you pay for is the ink cartridges. Manufacturers make al the profits on the ink, not the printer. Same thing applies to games. The real money is in the software/peripherals. So to get a greater profit margin, these online retailers are forcing those who want to buy online, to get extra games/periphels and therefor put more money into the retailers pocket. Discuss kindly.
