Most terrifying game of all time? I dare say yes to anyone over the age of 30 or grew up with the movies.

Edited by Whiskey Chits: 2/14/2016 4:59:28 AMNot going to lie. I quit once I killed the Xeno just to find out face huggers and other Xenos had a nest.

Edited by Psyntifik: 2/14/2016 3:57:26 AMI just didn't find it at all scary. Crouch everywhere and you don't see the alien - it's good for about 20 minutes then it just got tedious. I wad trying to speed run it just because I could. FEAR and Outlast are far better horror games. Even Among The Sleep. Speaking of tedious, I was especially pissed off when I was in a vent looking for that android friend of yours, and he walks right past me (scripted), and I can't call out! I have to go allll the way around the level to speak to him.

Love the game! IGN gave it a 5.9/10 because it was so awsome! They didnt want to make COD look bad (they gave advanced warfare a 9.1/10)
-
I love the Alien series. This game was amazing but...
Predators ftw
-
Still haven't passed the hospital part. Too -blam!-in scary.
-
Own it never really got around to it because the fiancé is absolutely terrified of Xenomorphs particularly face huggers. Outlast got me a few times unless I had some liquid courage in me.
-
Dude the first time I played I turned off all the lights and put my headphones full blast. It was honestly probably the most fun I've had with a single player game
-
I'm 20, but I love the movies. Xenomorphs scare the -blam!- out of me. Can't wait for Covenant. I couldn't get into Isolation though. I'm not too keen on survival horrors, even if it is based off of one of my favorite franchises of all time.

Not scary, but the most tense game I've ever played with the unpredictable AI hunting you And the original Alien is my favorite film.

Edited by Bluefoxx3: 2/13/2016 6:53:30 AMI once spent 25 minutes hiding underneath a row of hospital beds because of the how small the area I was around was. But, while the Alien still has an unpredictable path, it does still follow you. I ended up experimenting with the Alien going back and forth between 4 hallways, each hallway was connected through a door that had 2 large rooms in between. So I would creep between the 1st and 4th hallway and sure enough the Alien will follow you. While it does roam the entire room and such, it still sticks to the area your hiding in, vice-versa if you're hiding on the opposite end of the room. It will just stick to that area instead. It's only during the mid point of the game that you can actually roam a few hallways while the Alien is off in la-la land so it does allow you time to run in between cooldown periods. Most of the later levels are a bit more open which gives you more breathing room and they're some levels and more specifically, certain areas in those levels where the Alien seems to have the Patrol Route configuration and only breaks away from it if you manage to attract it's attention, if it doesn't spot you it ends up going back to its Patrol Route. It also never uses the vents in those levels either.

I actually felt the first F.E.A.R. game and it's dlcs, Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate were the kinds of things nightmares were made of. The second and third though? Not so much.
-
Absolutely, its probably the only scary game that is actually scary. Games like Dead Space do nothing more than throw jump scares at you. In AI you are just in a constant fear of dread of the inevitable. I eventually had to just kill myself over and over to get used to it. I however played this game on oculus rift, I really think that upped the scary factor. I would have nightmares for days after playing this game! Once I almost punched my girlfriend as a result lol.

Edited by Heroic Vigilant: 2/13/2016 1:08:41 AMAliens is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I'm 15. Isolation is awesome.
-
Own all the movies on original VHS but I'm 22 lol I'm the biggest Alien nerd
-
I love that game. I named the Xenomorph, Richard, and brought him and some friends on a magical adventure around the ship. Seriously though, Richard was a dick the whole entire game.
-
*dies 1000 times* *gets flamethrower* *never died again* *dies 1000 times to face-huggers*
sorry if that last part it's wrong, pls don't kill me because of grammar
-
I'm getting the game on Monday im 13 and not a big horror fan do you think I would like and is it scary??
-
Edited by Tuxx: 2/12/2016 7:45:56 PMI think it was one of the most intense survival horror games I've played. The unpredictable nature of the alien takes the tension to a whole new level. Idk if I'd say the absolutely scariest game I've played though. Different games invoke fear and tension differently.

Dead Space

I think that, in terms of atmosphere, it's very effective of evoking the feel and terror of the movie. But, for me, Outlast is still the scariest game I've played. The removal of weapons and traditional video game means of defending myself resulted in a truly unsettling experience.
-
Well i havent played it but i have played outlast. Fukin shit myself until the dying got annoying.
-
>hides in locer he finds me >hides under things he finds me >hides anywhere or does anything im dead
-
I wouldn't leave a locker for a half an hour lol
one time he found me :(
If it was the most terrifying game of all time, I wouldn't be playing it. I don't like super scary stuff. But I can handle that game, most of the time.
