Destiny was highly promoted as a MMO/sandbox co-op PVE game. People didn't even know PVP was an option.
PVE and MMO players flocked to the game. Sadly, unlike other MMO-like games, Destiny did not offer enough content to keep players busy until the next DLC or release.
So slowly PVE players started moving on to other games leaving behind the toxic PVP community to its Crucible.
If you primarily started playing Destiny because you believe it's a good PVP game, you're a fool. There are much better FPS PVP games available. Destiny wasn't even advertised for its PVP play. Watch the original E3 trailer.
I still hold out some hope Destiny 2 will center around PVE and we get the game we all inspire Destiny to be.

I concur, sir. Halo, Gears, CoD, and even Garden Warfare have a less laggy, more balanced, and more fun PvP IMO. I really only play Destiny for PvE. I'm not upset that they don't care about PvE right now; I'm just upset that I can't find a game with PvE as good as Destiny.
