Dark Guardian Tales: Suicide Mission PT 1.

"It looks like the video and audio that your armor recorded only goes a few hours back, so I don't think we will be able to see much." Said the Voice. Upon saying this, the Voice recreated a display of myself and three others, two women, a man that were running in front of me. I was keeping pace with them while avoiding the molten sulfur rivers that covered the surface of the planet while trying to keep low to avoid something... no... someone. The Archon Priest! That was it, I remember it so clearly now, along with other things that couldn't be recorded, one of which set me on edge... **** "We have to be close to the Prime now." Said the Man. "How do we know that this is where the bloody thing is hiding? Isn't that what you said the last four times we encountered some Fallen?" Said one of the women. Lyn. That was her name. Yes, I remember that much clearly. There was something about her voice and appearance that was familiar. I couldn't exactly tell what it was but I didn't have time to figure it out before the Man, whoever he was, started talking again. "The Archon was closing in on us faster and faster, until we reached this cave entrance. So that means is we either found the Kell, which I doubt since Draksis never leaves his Ketch, or the Prime." Said the Man with a matter-of-fact tone. "Or it could be the fifth ambush we've encountered today." Said Lyn. "She's got a point Aldin. This wouldn't be the first time TODAY that you have led all of us into a death trap. It wouldn't be so much of a problem it were just us three, but since we have our fourth member with us..." Said the second woman, Janet's her name... I think... "We all took this job knowing the risks, and we all know how high the risks are for each one of us. We can't risk skipping any possible locations that the Prime could be hiding, but we all need to be careful, especially you Aldin. We can't get ambushed again like yesterday. I barely retrieved all of your Ghosts before the Fallen got to them, so you had better plan out our next move before we go in there." I apparently said. "He's right. We can take some risks since our Ghosts can bring us back at a moments notice but that does not mean we are invulnerable, except for you of course. We need to have a plan of assault before we walk into another ambush." Said Lyn. "Fine, you guys are no fun. Follow me in and I'll tell you what to do from there."Aldin told us. We entered the large cave that was at the end of the sulfur trail. It was filled with the bones and broken bodies of countless victims; Fallen, Exo, Awoken and Human alike. It was a grisly sight to look at for sure, but before we could take it in a small group of dregs rushed us. They were glowing purple from a nearby Servitor, but none were in sight. My allies tried their best to take those brave few dregs out, but amazingly they didn't react to being shot. The four glowing dregs were taking full magazines of my allies weapons and were filled with bullet holes and regenerating their wounds in a mere second. "What the... why won't they die? Aldin!!!" screamed Lyn as the dregs started taking shots at her. "I don't know!!! I knew that the Prime could strengthen it's House but not like this! We need to do something drastic NOW!" Aldin screamed as he leaped into cover. "Horseman, you better have that thing ready!" "On it!" I said. I grabbed my hand cannon and lined up a few quick head shots. As I fired off each shot and dropped each dreg, I noticed that they were still twitching. Aldin ran to one of them and inspected it's robes and looked very disturbed at what he found. I also approached their corpses to inspect them, but as I did we all heard something, something huge fall behind us. "Aldin, what was that?" Janet asked. "By the Traveler we are fighting them!?!?!? We need to leave now!!!" Aldin was screaming in a panic. "The Vanguard told me that we were hunting pilgriming House of Winter not the, oh sh...! We all turned towards him to see the Archon with two horrifying large blades, one of them impaling him. The Archon threw his corpse rom his blade, towards me. I barely rolled out of the way as it was caught... by a dreg, a dreg with a faint purple mist in the shape of his head. Aldin's ghost appeared beside the Archon and before it could realize what was happening the Archon seized it in one of his hands and crushed it into small white pieces. Janet and Lyn were quivering at the sight of the demonic looking Archon and dregs. As for me, I felt only rage, so much rage. Rage towards the Archon for killing my friend, rage towards Aldin and the Vanguard's recklessness for putting me and the others in this situation and most of all, the rage I was feeling towards myself for allowing this to happen. "What do we do now Shallin?" Lyn asked. At that moment the Archon let out a roar and charged us with his dregs following him closely behind. I thought briefly of the importance of our mission, the consequences for 'betraying' the Vanguard and how traitors were dealt with... and the possibility of losing the two people that I cared about the most, something that felt familiar. I then knew what we, or rather what I needed to do. "Run!!!" I screamed as we all took off running for our lives. **** "That's where the recording ends, but we don't quite know how you died." Said the Ghost. Before watching that recording I would have believed him but somehow that small memory was starting to trigger other memories to come back slowly. I grabbed the Ghost and, remembering a trick I recalled while watching what was my last few moments alive. I shoved one of the tips of his shell into my gauntlet and waited for the two to link up while the Ghost was protesting my actions. Completing the link, I brought up my holographic keyboard from my gauntlet and typed up what I wanted to say and was finally met with some results. "No, there's more, so very much more. I think I remember rest, so just let me continue my story from here." My Ghost said after I sent him my message. "Okay... that's new..." The Ghost said without my interference. He seemed to have been slightly frightened as he looked at me with caution while his voice slightly wavered as he spoke, as if he knew something that I shouldn't. "What really happened then?" "When I tell you, you can't tell anyone else or else we are both as dead as Aldin and his Ghost. If you do, we are both going to attract the Vanguard quicker than I would like as I can tell you already know..." I 'told' my Ghost as I started to recount my exact few moments.
