The Betrayal Boot System in Halo 3
Let me ask a question...
Have you ever been in the situation where you've killed your teammate by accident and been booted? and let me add that the very same game you yourself have been betrayed by a teammate but haven't been given the option to boot?
I'm guessing this happens to many of you due to it happening plenty of times to me.
What I'm asking is to someone please help me understand how this boot system works and why it has been put into effect.

It sucks when you're in Infection. It's almost impossible NOT to betray with Creeping Death on Guardian while playing with idiot randoms.

For me it ALWAYS happens when I am sniping. It can be in Team Snipers or Team Slayer.... teammates LOVE to run right into sniper shot juuuuuust as you get like a perfect headshot line up..... THEN you get booted o.O STUPID!

Competing betrayal stats is the answer. If he has a low betrayal count, you can't boot him. If you had a high betrayal count, then he can boot you.

I knwo what you mean. I've never been booted because i think for some reason the system knows when it's an accident or something. I've seen my teammates boot people who intentionally betray but most of mine are accidents or can be seen as accidents. Like if i it's usually something that is a grenade blast. which isnt much that can be done. However only reason i have betrayed is becasue they betrayed me forst.. especcially if i had just picked up the sniper or shotgun they were running to and i spwned in front of. I dont know how it works besides some way of knowing accidents and purpose betrayers that have had many offenses.

tbh i think the betrayel system needs sorting. Like it resets how many betrays each match. And if you say betray atleast twice during one match you can get booted.

I agree. I was betrayed by the same player 5 times and I could not boot them. However, no matter how many games I play nice in, one accidental betrayal and I'm out.

I got kicked from a game earlier because two guys on my team drove into a tripmine on purpose. Only problem was I was winning the game for them so when they kicked me they lost anyway my freind said. But earlier on that game i got betrayed and I had no option to boot. :(

Hopefully, Reach's multiplayer Betrayal/ Boot System will be a little more less suckie. Some amendments to the booting could be if you've betrayed anyone on your team 3 times during the game, even if it's 3 different people, the boot/ forgive option comes up. If you have a mic and it was a genuine accident, then you could say "sorry" and pray you don't get booted. If you announce it was an accident, whoever you betrayed has a higher chance of forgiving you. I also think it should be from game to game and not collective. It's stupid that you could get betrayed 3 times in a game and you betray your betrayer once and get booted.

Lucky Bugger, The problem is, I only have to betray once then I'm out of the game and thats started to annoy me.

it sort of is like you can get away with one betrayal, but if you do it again, they get an option. i have never been booted for an accidental betrayal

Yeah thats the problem, I admit I've betrayed people in the past but its not frequent and I've never really got the option to boot. What I'm annoyed about is that normally its an accident and in some cases, the other players fault. [Edited on 10.22.2009 8:15 AM PDT]

I think it remembers your betrayals no matter how many games you've played. SO if you betrayed someone 5 games ago for 5 days ago it still remembers it and lets the person betray you the next time....of course there are those times when someone goes around and betrays me like 3 times in one game and i still cant boot him so i dunno.

if you betray alot then the option to boot comes up quicker, im careful so i dont kill my teammates often, on the rarity i do, they do not get the option to boot.
