Not THE Ghorn, but A ghorn. This is the poll - Does destiny need that pinnacle weapon? Something few have and everyone tries to get?
Y1 Destiny could be summarized in one word - RNGesus. That grind for a ghorn or fatebringer was exhausting for some and rush for others when they finally did drop.
In Y2, its less about random and more about if you're on a good enough team you can get the best the game offers in a few tries. The grind is still real but seemingly less rewarding.
Did you really enjoy getting your black spindle, TOM or any other exotic as much as you did a ghorn, fatebringner or VoC? (I highly doubt it)
Do you think Y2 has suffered, like I do, because there hasn't been an elite class of items that seem unattainable? Doesn't it feel like nothing is special?
-
I don't think we need a new Ghorn, but I will say it made the game worth playing for me. So many times, I was ready to just put it away, but the urge to continue grinding in hopes of a Gally kept me coming back. And that moment taking down the Death Singer on CE with a group of friends and suddenly that beautiful Gjallahorn popped up on my screen.. that moment was beautiful. It was one of my best destiny moments. I proceeded to pop a heavy and just run around shooting (un-upgraded) Gally's into the air. I miss moments like that.
-
Honestly, as much as people complained about gjallarhorn, I think people realise now in Y2 without a gjallarhorn or something similar to it that it was really a big part of destiny. I didn't even have a gjallarhorn and I'm saying this.
-
tonkor > G horn
-
100% agree, pve was the best when you were going for that awp loadout (fatebringer, BH, ghorn) and this was what made people do raids every week. Now it's just meh, weapons are boring and pve is stale as fk.
-
Wtf is a gally? Ohh that rocket launcher that never left my heavy slot? That ruined the chance for players to get in raids because they didn't have it? That people grinded hours and hours to get only to have it sold before it was nerfed into the ground? Why would I want ANYTHING like that again?
-
The sleeper simulant had so much hype gally was forgotten for awhile anyway.

Edited by Luiz Fernando: 1/5/2016 5:53:12 AMI just used my Ghorn today on patrol and i must say: that thing, at its prime, was the greatest weapon i ever had in a videogame. Beautiful, powerful and Unique. This game needs more than one Ghorn like...it needs a bunch of it.
-
The only one of those I have is the ghorn after Xür sold the second time
-
No. I like the idea that exotics are just weapons that are powerful when used properly and in their own unique way. That's how most of them are now. Gjallarhorn was so powerful and easy to use it was ridiculous. You barely even had to aim it.
-
A reward like that would be nice but then there might be a problem. The game might accidentally turn into the kind of mets that the archon priest had, where there was a cheese spot with a good weapon. Year two specifically tried to fix this, but when people ask to bring gally or icebreaker back this is what I am worried will happen.
-
I agree nothing now is as rewarding back in year one when I got my ghorn from a dreg awww good times
-
I feel like we need something like that but everyone would either a) call for a nerf and the gun would practically cease to exist or b) elitists would come into play and lfg would be unbearable.
-
Ghorn was awsome in pve yes it had its ups and downs like all those lfg ghorn only post was bad but speed running a raid with your uk frends like 8 in the morning was price less memorys that i miss bungie did not kill it but they just left it there to die in the cold im actully remembering all the good times with my clan members but times like that are over and i cant get use to all this year 2 crap i miss year one it might have been a beta but it was a fun ass beta
-
I got mine on the fifth or sixth nightfall in Y1 on my 360. I flipped out. Then I got it on my first nightfall on my PS4. I flipped out again.
-
it needs it real bad, it needs it like an anorexic needs cake.
-
An amazingly fun weapon? Yes it needs one

Edited by BannedMythicAccount: 1/4/2016 11:08:29 PMDestiny needs a shiny charizard card back into it's inventory and the measure it should be attained should be RNG. I'm not a supporter of RNG for the majority of it's existance, never was. But I will concede and identify when it's use is beneficial for the community at large. I understand it will generate a 'in crowd' like g-horn did, but you have that already with elitist mindset within the community. With Weapon X, you're simply replacing it with the lesser evil, plus it's another incentive to make the 'in crowd' achievable without skill requirement. Hell, the elitist mindset in destiny right now is so polluted with non-skill users anyways, it just becomes an ego contest regardless of stats. Basically making the current in crowd the who's the biggest asshole? That's what is being bred at the community atm since 2.0 dropped and is one reason why I and the majority of my friends list left the game in it's entirely. Huge oversight from a community creation/relations aspect of the game. At least with a Shiny Charizard, people have something to show for it and it benefits the community at large because assholes will always be assholes, but at least the decent people have a chance to be part of a 'in crowd' of the community without a asshole requirement.

I like how quests give you exotics but I mean it just feels lazy even the iPad thing in the tower with the exotics seem so lazy why even make exotics year 2 if we can just buy them just like that I know they cost a lot but still why do the nightfall for exotics when they are sitting in the tower waiting. There is no sense of accomplishment when getting exotic drops now. Unless it's the new exotics
-
Maybe just because I'm bias. I joined a Crota normal raid a month after it dropped to learn it. After taking him down the group invited me to an Atheon Hard checkpoint. "I have never attempted a Hard Raid!" "That's Cool." they said and loaded it up. I died into the second teleport and they managed to pull it off with out me. When the Vex and ghorn dropped I felt like the most hated person from LFG ever. I wasn't kicked right away but there was definitely talk of it. I called it my master key, Daily never posed a problem after the ghorn. Only problem was when you want to use another exotic, the choice of un-equiping was almost painful. But yes year one PVE content was all about Fatebringer/Black Hammer/Ghorn.
-
It shouldn't be hard to obtain but PVE would be a lot more fun with OP weapons. Gally was awesome because it was different and OP, nothing stands out anymore.
-
The dead orbit RL is a good substitute, i have found..
-
The only time a game should have that pinnacle, OP weapon is if the game made you work your ass off for it, not with random drops. That way it means something. You beat the boss, learn you can wield his power yourself, then you have to go through this series of quests and trials and the last part tests your skill and/or knowledge with pure challenge and ferocity, and the game rewards your skill and hard work with the weapon of weapons, that way if you have it, then you and everyone knows you worked hard for it. Having it drop randomly from activities or engrams diminishes its value and makes it just another overpowered gun, and then makes it the standard for the challenge activities, making it harder for some people to play the game. I never ever found a Ghorn from year 1 and because of that, trying to find good groups for hard raids or Skolas was so hard because of all the idiots that thought that if you didn't have a Ghorn or Icebreaker, you were worthless. I'm not saying the gun shouldn't exist, but make it much more difficult to get it. That way it feels better to have it and when you see someone with it, you know they worked their ass off for it, rather than playing a match of crucible and getting lucky
-
I never got ghorn until xur sold it the second time, and in one instance it did specifically restrict me in a raid when only half the raid team had ghorns, so the group disbanded because the those who did have it decided it would've been to hard otherwise.
-
I've never seen so much hype around a gun ever. Howard stern was even talking about the gally and peoples ridiculous reactions to getting it. Def made the game way more popular.
