For once let's talk about where this game is going without starting a flame war, trolling, or bashing the game just because you/we feel like it's unfair. I would like you guys to try your best to judge Destiny's strong points and it's weak points. That being said I want us to TRY to be as UNBIASED as possible when giving our opinions. I know that'll be hard for certain topics and Veterans who've been playing since beta/day one but just try. Last but not least please up vote this thread so we can get some true feedback to Bungie. I feel the reason we get aggrivated at this game is because we want it to succeed so bad but every time we take a step forward we seem to also take a step back. I've been playing Destiny since beta like many others so I'd like to share my opinions and experiences with you guys as well as what we can do to make it better. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆REPLAYABILITY/ENDGAME/FIRETEAMS Overall if you play this game solo I feel like it's a lot emptier. It's much better with friends. Destiny is so much fun in the beginning when everything is shiny and new but when you finish everything the story missions have to offer (in 26-30 hours) it becomes bland quickly.
Even worse is if a new player starts with TTK they can earn an item called Spark of Light early on. If they use it,(You earn it by beating first quest on the moon then talking to the Speaker after.) it will insta-level them to level 25, grant them access to the taken king questline instantly, and give them equipment far more superior than any of the rewards you'd recive playing the vanilla missions. It makes the whole experience feel less rewarding.
With only few ways to level up your favorite equipment AND still be the max/neccasary light level for activities, it's easy to say our current way of leveling up our gear is excruciatingly time consuming. It doesn't help that with this newest dlc some Strikes and Raids were left behind without any incentive for completing them other than nostalgia and certain quest line steps. Our endgame right now feels the same as it did in the very beginning all because we didn't bring old content forward with us. I'm okay with year one weapons staying in year one, but I would like to see year two rewards added to the loot table in the year one Raids and Strikes! It would give an incentive to go back and replay them. I also feel like we need a better way to recruit and communicate with other guardians in game. Matchmaking and voice chat alleviates some of the stress but voice chat and matchmaking aren't always available depending on what activity you play. That being said matchmaking should be optional for each game mode. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆PVP/PVE WEAPON BALANCE Keep in mind these are just my opinions. As far as Weapon balance, I don't understand the first thing about fine tuning the numbers for competitive play. I do however know when a new meta comes into play and I do know when some weapon types have clear advantages over others. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - *PVP* Some ideas I had for balancing PvP was that we could try swapping some Primary and Special weapon types. Lets try putting Shotguns and Snipers in our Primary slots and put Hand Cannons in our Special slots. Or have less special ammo on maps. But then it hit me. I personally think the biggest problem with Weapon Balancing in our PvP community is us. We all have a certain way we like to play/think how the game should be played and it destroys our weapon balance. When Auto rifles were on top, people who didn't like them or know how to use them thought they were stronger than their weapons type of choice. They felt like it was unfair to be forced to use a weapon type that was uncomfortable to use for them, just to stay competive. Then the same thing happened with fusion rifles. The range was so much it left Snipers, Scouts, and Shotguns in a bad place. So Fusions and ARs were nerfed. Doing so left Hand Cannon users unchecked. So in the next update they gave a slight AR buff, a noticeable Pulse buff, and a hard HC nerf. With Pulses running rampant now, Scouts had a hard time killing at the ranges they were supposed to be effective at. This was because HC's were supposed to be keeping Pulse's in check at Mid range. Admittedly HC's were too effective, as they were able to outsnipe Snipers so the nerf was needed. With Pulses being the most versatile, accurate, and having the least amount of damage drop off for a Primary at the time, Snipers were having trouble keeping PR's in check due to them having a faster rate of fire, decent impact, and range. A bunch of Sniper users got tired of this happening and sought a different way to combat PR's. Enter the Shotgun Era. So the only thing left to keep Pulses in check were a handful of high rate of fire Snipers, some Scouts, and a technique using versatile movement and a one shot kill. Otherwise known as Blink Shotgunning. But now nothing could keep the Shotguns in check because the one gun that could at Mid/Close range (Fusions) was nerfed in the ground and the gun that kept them far away (Snipers) were being hassled by PR's or they were the same people who switched to shotguns to combat PR's! But shotguns had too much range. So we nerfed Blink. Then we nerfed Shotguns. Then we took away a perk from Shotguns. Then we nerfed Shotgun range some more. Now we are here current day where everyone is packing a sniper. And it seems that the only real thing keeping snipers in check now are other snipers. Do you see the pattern that's happening? My point is we need to start from scratch and try again without letting our biased opinions towards our favorite and most hated weapon types get in the way and giving honest feed back based on balance and nor what's more comfortable for us to use. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - *PVE* As far as PvE goes I never really noticed weapons being to OP (Besides Ghorn) or excessively weak (Besides Necrochasm at the time) but that's just me. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆SUBCLASS BALANCING I honestly would like to see what happened to the Titan happen to all the subclasses. I feel like they should all be rebalanced and fined tuned since our new subs disturbed that balance. Just my opinion. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆EVENTS/DLC/MICRO TRANSACTIONS I love the events we have been having in the tower. Hell we were begging for some PvE events. From what I understand they are able to fund these events due to recently introducing micro transactions. And as much as I love the events I don't want them to replace dlc. I don't mind the micro's. Just so long as it stays cosmetic and doesn't become a "20 strange coins for 1000 silver!/320 armor and exotics for 2800 silver!" pay to win. I do feel like it's messed up that you use Rng for your cosmetics though. Getting people to blow $50 trying to get a blue skull? Or taking away the old emotes and making it a mystery grab bag that gives people paying money a "High chance of getting an emote they don't already have?" That means there is a small chance you could pay for something you already owned! That's a little messed up I feel. It's borderline gambling and can be unhealthy for some players. If they spend money you should guarantee they'll get a special mask or guarantee an emote they don't already have. Once again. My opinion. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆COMMUNICATION I get it Bungie always says they're listening and for the most part they do, but I'd like them to start talking more also. Sometimes I feel like they really are listening. A lot of things we asked for have happened (sparrow racing) but when it comes to things where the whole community is in a unanimous vote on something they want, like bringing back old raids and strikes, it just seems like our voices fall on deaf ears. Why does it seem that way? Because ultimately it's their game and they can do what they want but they also wanna keep us playing and happy. So we do have some say in what goes on because they wanna keep their players. A good example is when almost all of us didn't want Atheon to randomly teleport us. Deej himself told us he tried to do something about it, and he made sure we were heard, but the dev team was going to do it anyway. As sad as that news was it was the only time I can recall that we were given the honest truth about something instead of getting some roundabout answer. So that day we learned Bungie will ultimately do what they want with Destiny (to an extent) but at least we got an honest response from Deej. If he starts doing that again, I feel like it's a step in the right direction. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TL;DR: Do you like the direction destiny is going in and how can we make it better?Share your opinions and answer the poll so we can get Bungie honest feedback to help better the game. Discuss.

    • You explaining the meta eras were just funny as hell. A little off timeline wise but still pretty accurate and entertaining. It's a shame that people crying because the die a certain by a certain gun is the reason why we've had all these excessive nerfs. One thing remains true. The sniper rifles have never changed. They could always Rez snipe and always had good aim assist. Me personally can't snipe that good. So I'm not for it or against it. But I know they'll be nerfed somehow. That's just the culture of destiny. Die, cry, nerf, buff something else, die, cry, nerf...etc.

    • I chose 50/50 because I have no idea where they plan on going. With every new DLC they add more currencies and different leveling systems.

    • It's always the same thing, grind pretty much identical levels or levels backwards for identical gear you had year one that's re-skinned, they aren't adding enough original content, if this is their ten year plan their not going to get very far. They need larger events, larger levels, larger fire teams, ship battles the ability to go into the city, public events defending the city walls, there are so many things they can do but they seem to have really stale creative directors or something "creative director one" hey let's make a strike and 25 mission where you run backwards on the same map or even forwards on the same map, but with different enemies! "Director" that's genius! We don't have to make any new content really and we can milk everybody for money!

Imagine if they did challenge mode on a DIFFERENT raid every week instead of just one boss in KF every week. There would be so much to replay and I dunno about you guys but I found VoG to be the most enjoyable raid. I just think its a shame that we can't do it and get any relevant rewards anymore. Basically - lots of us want to be able to play the old raids and still get usable gear.

            • Vanilla - great TDB - horrible HoW - trying but still not there yet TTK - Good, but a long way to go. How I always viewed it. They have so much potential to make the game good, if the just listen to the ideas the fan base is trying to say (not all of it, but a good majority.) I've seen some great ideas that the community has come up with that could improve upon destiny's experience. I am fine with emote buying, but the racer book and this other stuff they are trying to experiment with, won't work.
But that's my 2 cents. Take it with a grain of salt.
Why they left Prison of Elders in year 1 is beyond me. They could have really expanded on it with the Taken and would have been a nice way to introduce new grimoire/lore. It would have been cool if they raised the Vex and Necrochasm (never got it) to year 2. Couple that with the possibility of adding raid exclusive exotic armor to pair up with those weapons would be dope. I really want a set system like in Diablo. I want my builds to have more depth. And as much flack as they'd probably get for copying, they should add their own versions of greater rifts. They already technically have it in PoE but why not expand on PoE, make it timed and have theoretically unlimited levels? That would be a good way to test out how OP your gear is. The raids have always been fun but why not make the hard raid actually different? They could have normal, hard, heroic and mythic. Hard could be what challenge mode is and then heroic could have mini bosses like in the exotic sword quest as well as new modifiers and boss mechanics. Mythic would be everything from previous difficulties grouped into one, with an extra phase for each boss afterwards. The amount of gear progression would be astounding with all these extra levels of difficulty. Add more tracks to SLR, bring back the old strikes and add one strike/crucible map every month. They could alternate it too, so one month is a new strike and the next is a map giving them enough time to work on stuff. And for the love of God, make patrols somewhat interesting. I love patrolling and on the off chance I get a public event, Taken Zealot and skull and bones patrol beacon in one session, it gets really intense and fun especially if there's like 4 or 5 of us. They should really look into making Mercury an explorable planet along with Phobos. If and once they do that, then Bungie has to eventually add more to the locations we already have. What happened to the Europen Dead Zone and Old Chicago being open for exploration? We have so many crucible maps showing us there are other areas that the factions have set foot in, but we can't explore em? It's a bit sad. I know this is a rather long comment with a ton of commands that require butt loads of work but if they can do this over the course of year 2 and Destiny 2's year 1 cycle, it would be pretty cool.

            • NO. Complete waste of time in a character building/grinding game if you reset progress quarterly. Also I feel like Bungies business practices are shady.

Well, here's the thing; some things done since TTK are fantastic (kings fall is an awesome raid, I like the infusion system, and ToC is a great addition), but there are some questionable things (the nerfs upon nerfs, letting older content become stale). I think my biggest issue with the direction is the uncertainty ; we think we know that Destiny 2 is coming in September of 2016, but we don't know. They allude to something huge coming after the next "festival of the lost" scale event, but without any info, how do we stay excited and engaged? I just think they keep us in the dark too much. Look at the Sleeper Simulant hoopla. They teased us with a big mystery, just to find out that it's time gated. That was a huge bummer. All they needed to say is that it was coming soon. I'd just like to be treated a little more like a person, and given some useful info, rather than treated like a donkey being led around by a carrot dangling from the end if a stick. But, at the end if the day, it's a friggin video game. We play because it's fun to do so. If it ceases being fun, we move on.

            • Problem is year 2 is a watered down version of year 1. I still play destiny a lot but soo many good guns year 1, year 2 guns are poor. Infusion system takes too long to level up your characters. People then loose interest. Ppl need to see genuine progression and a goal to work towards. Raid drops piss all over that concept. Year too raid is beastly and I love trials but my main beef is with the link between time played til loot received. Ppl should be rewarded for effort put in. That's just my 2 cents worth.

            • Even though I love playing this game with my buddies, I think the gameplay is great fun (in PvE anyways). But I had to vote NO, reasons being: - the awful communication by Bungie: the community managers rarely address concerns/questions, the whole cock up with the patch notes thing was the icing on the cake. bungie could learn a thing or two from treyarch - the constant rebalancing of the game: the weapon nerfs/buff never seem to get it right, its always 1/2 weapons which everyone gravitates to, that and the fact that each weapon patch takes around 2-3 months to be implement only for it to be half assed and not feel like they actually tested it before release - obvious money grabbing techniques: even before TTK it was quite clear that Bungie were gonna do anything to bleed money out of the community by content locking. but now the micro-transactions are here and this greed for money is even more apparent. Bungie are walking the very fine line of pay 2 win with the recent pay to level 25 product. Also that thing costs £30 for ONE character!! its an absolute rip off, although I dont count it as pay-2-win its getting as close to it as possible - artificially increasing the grind: reduce strange coins/mote of light, double rng, increased armor experience needed but no telemetries for them (seriously why is this not a thing in the game?! we have weapon telemetries why not armor ones), time gated exotics, and I'm sure there is more

Maybe bungie should of came out and said the TTK will have the last new raid you experience until Destiny 2 is released. Lets assume that if Destiny 2 is released around September next year (if we are lucky) what will that leave core destiny players with until then? Trials, Iron Banner, Racing? With what they did to year one gear, I will ask what is the point of playing once you have completed all of the raid challenges? So if the direction bungie is going is one raid per year then I will tell you I do not like the direction they are going. What is even more funny, they created this bullshit light level system for armor and weapons. Then they blessed it with awesome RNG. Wonder why? To get people to grind the same stuff over and over. I am glad I started limiting my time playing a few weeks ago. Use to be one of those have to play every day guys.

            • There are no guns (legendary wise) that seem worthwhile like there were in year 1, such as: black hammer, fate bringer, vision of confluence, etc. Legendaries in year 2 aren't even worth farming because they are absolute ass. I think that was the huge difference between year 1 and year 2. Year 1 offered replay ability by having to farm these items if you wanted them where as in year 2 there really aren't any weapons worth getting and if you want them you simply just buy it and you're done with it. Pretty boring in my opinion. Year 1 was much much better gameplay wise. Year 2 interface/currency wise is much better. Would've rather had year 1 and its problems than year 2 and its shitty gameplay/replayability

                • I like a lot of the things happening, like being able to wear any armor due to infusion. However, I can't be the only one who FELT WAY MORE POWERFUL IN YEAR ONE. The Y1 raid weapons were much stronger, range finder, all ballistics, perfect balance, and Field Scout along with elemental primaries made me feel so much more powerful. I would also like to see more snipers of high impact available for use, aside from 1K and Eirene. I would take a Y1 reset on all weekly strikes as well, give me back my weeklies and my nightfalls where I can get kicked to orbit. TL;DR: I was having more fun in year one. :/

                  • Time gated isn't a game. It's honestly a waste of time. We're still waiting for he whole taken king to come out.. Why is that? Because they need to lengthen the excitement because they understand it gets boring. They play it. I have almost 45 days on my Titan and was a Titan in the alpha and beta. I even tried to make new characters but it honestly is just too repetitive. I bought the ghost edition of vanilla and I bought the Destiny ttk ps4 but will probably be selling it all this weekend. It's been a good run and I will miss all of my og friends but time to get a new game.
any suggestions?
They don't care anymore about making quality products just as long as they can hype enough people up to make money on stupid shit.

                      • I'd love for them to pursue more open-world aspects. Perhaps they could even make a large (Dragon's Dogma large, or somewhere near there) area with lots of mini-bosses and various enemies and locations scattered about, with plenty to do for both solo players and groups alike. But that's simply a fantasy. The reality is, they're more focused on linear-esque events and DLC. Which is cool and all, as it is their game, but the way they're pricing and implementing everything makes it...well, less than satisfying for some after awhile.
