1. It's impossible to run the same race twice. Even if you practice and practice. you'll only get mostly close. You will never do anything the exact same way, no matter how many times you do it. That means you're going to mess up turns that you've gotten before. The best riders will be the ones who can adapt and quickly overcome any unexpected set backs or quickly adjust to any of the small deviations that they inevitably make in their runs. Shoot this is true in life, not just Destiny.
2. You got 5 other players who will never run the same race twice. That means they'll be taking turns differently at different times in different ways, and what's more...they might not be as good as you, so you can imagine the chaos. It creates it's own sort of RNG for who does and doesn't win unless you're a very skilled racer.
3. Very few are actually trying to bump you, mean like. You're all competing for the same gates. Taking the same turns, especially if you're in the top 3. The gates are wide for the laggers and small for the front runners. That means bump city. Am I the only one that didn't see this happening. I knew this was gonna be bumper sparrows. Start learning to adjust. The race is not to the swift or the agile, it's to the cunning. As Dom said, "I wasn't aware there were any rules"
4. Yes, glitches, gate sizes, bugs and the three points above are all designed to give bad racers a chance at winning too. It creates a sort of unpredictability that Bungie does in fact want. It's the whole purpose of RNG. To let people who aren't the greatest have a chance of success. That gets them hooked. Destiny is based off of Casinos. Sorry. They'll support very skilled players and very sucky players, but those like me that are on the fence are always at the mercy of RNG
The take away is don't get frustrated. Just enjoy it. Don't worry if you don't get the best gear cause it's all going away next year, and none of it looks all that great anyway. so just enjoy racing. Don't put much stock in it, and if you are super intense like me....take a break instead of having a heart attack,.
Good luck.
