Bungie Hit it Out of the Ballpark with the Challenge Mode Rewards
Criticize it all you want, Bungie knocked it out of the ballpark with the challenge mode rewards. Not only did they make the reward a guarantee 320 or 310 depending on the difficulty of the drop, but also a guaranteed weapon drop. That doesn't just remove the double rng, it removes the most frustrating part of the double rng. I actually want to run the raid now. Kudos Bungie. First Iron Banner, then this. Keep up with the streak.
Edit: Would you rather Bungie make more mistakes or fix the mistakes they made?
Edit 2: Hey, the Vocal Minority is here to ruin the day. Guess they forgot about running VoG and getting nothing but shards and chatter white. At least I'm guaranteed a weapon this time, oh wait I'm guaranteed two weapons and two artifacts, both at the max level of their respectable difficulty. Not to mention I get a chance at an exotic and I still have a chance of getting the regular drops from the boss too.

1 ReplyAll I know is the last guaranteed reward I got, *cough* black spindle *cough* was nerfed. Qualifying this as, "knocking it out of the park" should have been done the first time around. More like it takes Bungievision nine innings before they figure out how to knock one out of the park.

Well, it's too little too late. They have permanently lost alot of people because of their ineptitude. Yeah, you now have a higher light level drop. Too bad the wepaon will get nerfed and modified to uselessness, despite what you get. The monthly meta is the new norm. Once a month a group of weapons will be chosen to be nerfed and buffed so you have to throw away what you just levelled up for something else.

1 ReplyI agree with you 100%. Assuming this is the games greatest raid challenge, the rewards are very fittingly matched. I realize a lot of us raiders did not see this encounter as a challenging step up from the ones already in place. This does not mean that the next two will be cakewalks, and perhaps the encounter will be made more difficult later. Remember the VoG days where we could hide out the Templar fight or just push him off with our grenades? That fight was intended to be more difficult and was changed later to reflect that. Those of us who grabbed the rewards when the getting was good should consider ourselves lucky. Should we tell bungie the challenge wasn't challenging? Absolutely! Should we whine about being handed a vertical power boost on a silver platter? No! How's that gift horse's mouth lookin' you know?! TL;DR: Positive constructive criticism. Not ungrateful whining.

Yeah, not bad, but still need better drops for hard mode. Seems almost impossible to get a 320 LL primary or special to drop. Over all the challenge did spark some excitement this week in the raid, looking forward to what comes next. Hopefully no let downs, it's important that Bungie keeps the rewards coming, especially for those of us that have loyally kept the grind on, since TTK release. Peace!!

No. Doing a raid SHOULD guarantee rewards each time you complete it and the checkpoints along the way. That would be 'hitting it out of the park'. What kind of game makes you play challenging modes where you can literally get no reward from?

This is the response they wanted; they made everything nonsensical and totally suck, then everyone praises them for doing what they should have done in the first place. This is how these hacks operate, I'm really surprised people still don't see this.

Edit to the edit: In year one as long as I kept playing the cup and ball...I knew eventually I could "win" It took me an entire year to finish my entire year one collection. I literally finished one-two weeks before TTK came out. It was the one thing they did right...at least it wasn't articfical inflation. Now it is all totally random. You cannot control drops...and any drop can have garbage perks. It is ASS BACKWARDS.

2 RepliesHit it out of the park??? I did a full normal run today, and my rewards were 16 moldering shards, and the guaranteed 310 sniper and artifact. Then I ran hard mode on the same character up to oryx. My rewards were the guaranteed 320 sniper and artifact (notice, sniper rifle both times!!!). That leaves 2x totem chest, 2x warpriest, 2x golgoroth, 2x exotic chest, the daughters once, and oryx once with zero drops other than shards. I would gladly give up my guaranteed challenge drops for more consistent, useful, regular nm and hm drops. This was not a hit out of the park, it was a sacrifice fly at best.

They waited plenty long enough to introduce it so the kids who think being close to 320 was super cool could let the luster wear off. This dials down the RNG grind and allows us to start slowly reaching 320. I've been stuck at 316 for weeks so this is nice. Went up to 317 on my hunter and was stoked.
