This is for those who use the "one gaze" strategy. It was hinted last week that those of us using that strategy will be disappointed when the challenge for Golgoroth comes out.
NOTE:
If you're simply going to bash the "one gaze" strategy, please just move on to another post. We've used both and have had success with both.
Instead of "one gaze," what about "one puddle?"
This is based on the assumption that you will fail the challenge if you fail to capture Golgoroth's gaze.
So, you do the "one gaze" strategy. 5 people damage Golgoroth from the puddle.
At 5 or so seconds, one person leaves - in time to take the gaze at the end.
Everyone leaves and the two gaze-grabbers bounce it back and forth until you can't anymore.
No running around in the pit trying to down 6 orbs. You're doing almost the same amount of damage to Golgoroth as if you were doing the one-gaze strategy, except now you're not "failing" the gaze mechanic.
Thoughts?
Inb4: just do the 6 orbs "as inteded"

Would love to see it be killing him without getting his gaze

Edited by Stupid Shinji: 12/2/2015 3:04:10 AMThe problem with that is it will force you to do the challenge. They have stated you can choose to do thee challenge or choose not to and do the encounter normally.
-
It's possible to do enough damage to golgoroth in six orbs/gazes to kill him. Most of the groups I'm in down him in 3-4 orbs.
-
I would make the challenge that you have to use every bubble , no one can die , and you have to kill him while he is enraged !!
-
Watch it be just like Warpriest. Can't have one person take the gaze twice.
-
I think it will be a limit on how many times you can loose his gaze.
-
I think it has something to do with the light, like once u get it you can't get it again, so u can't risk going back in the pool
-
Your whole strat aside, you "fail to capture the gaze" everytime if you do the 6 orb strat, just after you knock down all the orbs and DPS from every puddle. So your strat is invalid.
-
Hard mode orbs only last about 15 seconds so this wouldn't be necessary.
-
Designate 3 people as 1 2 3 on each side. First the left side 1 goes for the normal puddle. Then right 1 for the first right puddle then left 2 at left mid puddle. Etc just work the way down each side. Each person leaves at 5 secs to grab gaze and watch out for unstable light

Edited by Ve7n00m: 12/1/2015 3:19:56 PMOr how about 1 gaze holder 3 in the pit shooting GOGO with 2 shooting down all the other orbs before the time runs out. 6 orbs down no gaze lost. Your basic 1 orb stratergy! or even just shoot down 5 orbs then take his gaze when the last one drops (this is assuming that you don't HAVE TO KILL HIM before the 6th puddle runs out!)
-
Just FYI, you only get 6 orbs. After that, you HAVE to lose gaze. I haven't seen anyone do it in one phase, even normal.
-
Orbs that you pop wont regen.

Edited by The 7th fall: 12/1/2015 2:01:11 AMWho cares? Oh wait Bungie does because we're not playing 'as intended'... either strategy is easy enough, even on hard mode. I won't even be doing challenge mode cause I could care less about repeating a tiny fraction of content for sh*t RNG rewards, or even nothing at all sometimes. Plus the notion that I can't play the way I'd like and instead have to play it Bungie's way or not is also asinine... no matter, me and quite a few others won't be doing it as we've moved on from this travesty to gaming.
-
Just re-read the update.... it specifically says "one pool strat." So........ this idea is probably scrapped. Oh well. Like you guys said, it's probably best just to wait until we actually see what the challenge is.
-
My crew rocks both strategies on all bosses lol challenge mode will be a joke. 😁
-
It's just adding modifiers to those fights right
-
Two gaze catchers 6 pools What's the problem here ? Dedicate one person to look out for cursed Should prob be whoever has the poison Am I wrong ?
-
Or do that strat. Take down l1, someone jumps out and takes gaze, clear adds, take down r2, rinse and repeat
-
Or, and i've heard of people doing this, the gaze grabber goes to the right balcony and the puddle people pop the left front bubble. You then wait for the back to open then everyone shoots it. The person I heard doing this did 500,000 so about 5 people doing this is 2,500,000. After shooting golgoroth check for the gaze if you have it run to the left balcony and go to the right bubble. And to get max damage use a tether and wol bubble.
-
Don't forget cursed thralls. Maybe the gaze grabber coming in can clear thralls, then when they switch again, then next one coming in clears the next group of thralls, etc.
-
Challenge is probably to have 1-2 people capture the gaze and kill him in 1 gaze. Meaning the other 4 will need to DPS from One Pool, take another orb down and DPS from the 2nd Pool and so on. Maybe I'm wrong idk
-
How bout we wait till it's out and then form a strat. We dont know all the mechanics yet
-
This works just as the normal way to do this wth two holders. Minus going into the pit and out.
-
I think we may have to work out 2 pools at the same time. If so me and my team have already found the spots and worked out how we are going to do it
-
I thought the orbs don't respawn until the gaze is lost
