Please Fix your Broken Raid!

Okay, I am not going to lie. I am frustrated. After 2+ hours of not being able to get online this morning, I took a full 312-317 fireteam into a HM Oryx Checkpoint to knock out a kill, only to spend 3+ hours NOT beating him. Everyone knew the strats, everyone had the best gear, but the list of glitches seemed endless, and they just kept happening over and over. Bump this post if you have ever had a run like this: 1. Platorms wouldn't appear even after all 3 jumpers were up (in the right order, and sequence). 2.Runner couldn't pick up the relic. 3. Runner couldn't slam on the vessel. 4. Oryx didn't appear to stagger after DPS. 5. Players inexplicably dying INSIDE of the invulnerability aura after detonating 4x bombs. 6. Players inexplicably dying after killing the shade as we teleport back to the arena. 7. Ogre's not taking damage despite 5x players unloading ToM directly into their faces. And the WORST: 8: Oryx NOT dying after successfully detonating 16 bombs, AND 4x players empting full magazines of heavy ammo into his chest during his final zero health phase. I have killed Oryx on Hard a grand total of twice since HM dropped, but I have probably put 15 hours into NOT defeating him with decent, experienced fireteams over the last 2 weeks. Congratulations. You have come up with the anwser to Crota, which everyone thought was too easy (I am in the minority, btw and enjoyed that raid) you have designed a raid boss fight that less than 15% (likely way lower, but I am guessing here) of your player base simply can not defeat. Fix this. This endgame material should be beat-able by anyone that puts in the time and effort to level up a character to 315+ with a co-ordinated fireteam. The glitches and uncompromising mechanics aren't fun for anyone. The funny thing is that even if we had beat him today we likely would have gotten terrible loot drops because your loot system is simply broken. But that is a whole other issue. For now, lets just focus on fixing the glitches. Thanks for listening. Edit#1 - Thank-you all for your very insightful and informative comments. Yes, we did go to orbit, quite often in fact. And yes, we did try other fire team members as fireteam leader. OH, and we had 6/6 Green bar connections for most of the fight.

  • Trials was laggy as -blam!- too Destiny needs to boot the ps3 and 360, optimize that money for production of content for dead systems and use it for I dunno some dedicated servers

  • Its not the raid, it's your connection, I run in top this problem doing the raid with people from another country (the uk and Australia to be specific). Never had a problem when I raided with people in north America.

  • Lag possibly? You try changing host going back to orbit. The weird shit ive always seen was when host was red barring

  • The only word thing that happened on KF hard was that someone died in the aura, he was clearly inside.

  • To the people denying it: Did you run the raid Thursday-Saturday the past few days? It was terrible, and the issues the OP describes are similar to what I saw. Multiple team members, multiple team leaders, mostly green bars (often all six green), multiple trips to orbit. Maybe it was Thanksgiving holiday weekend traffic. For us - we did finally beat it - but not until: - People randomly disappeared from fireteams but not parties - Plates take 5 seconds to light up. - Oryx stands at first plate staring for 10 seconds before slamming. - Runner runs through relic (I was watching him), does not get relic. - Oryx stands a long time before slamming at DPS phase. There were some other alleged issues, but I think some were excuses or frustration. The above list, I witnessed and have no doubt.

  • Someone had a shit connection then. I only get glitches like this when someone lagging is in. It usually fixes its self when we return to orbit and go back in

      I guarantee if I was in the group most of these "glitches" would not occur IF you all have green bars (as you claim). What is really going on is: 1.) possible bad connections 2.) people not running into bombs at relatively the same time 3.) people lying about how they died because little kids would rather blame the game than actually say "I funked up" 4.) mechanics are not being properly run. A couple of these are legitimate glitches. Shade of oryx instant death IS an issue. Also, slamming of the relic can also be an instant death, but is more rare than most runners act like. Final platform relic has honestly only occurred to me once and I am still not sure if it was just as a result of lag. I run all positions in the entire raid. Most issues involve people messing up and not taking responsibility for doing so.

    • All of the problems (1-8) all occur when the connection is bad for some of all of your party. I question the validity of the status of the connection in the menu often. I have one friend who's always had a notoriously bad connection and often shows red/yellow bar connection to the point he used to drop out of the Crota raid at Crota because of it. Since the one of the latest patches, he often shows green when I can hear his mic cutting out and the usual issues when he's in the party. Then we hop over to BO3 and he's showing 1 bar.

      • Don't forget drops. Last hard raid I did I got 2 310 shotguns with the same exact perk and nothing else.

        • It is not broken when that happens one of your fireteam is lagging causing the issues. does not have to be you for it to happen to you.

          Has anyone been killed by the shade's Doxology AFTER KILLING IT AND BEING TELEPORTED BACK TO THE BATTLE FIELD? That's happened to me twice. One time it whipped my whole team. I RQ'd everytime it happened... Just saw that this was #6. I apologize for my derp

          • I have had the problem with #5. Being in the aura with ample time and it not providing protection on both Oryx and the sisters. If it is close to the explosion, it is lag. The teleporting Ogres is the problem right now.

          • All of these are due to connection. There is a delay between everyone and this results in people not getting immortality from the aura, shots not registering, kills not registering, etc. if your game cannot tell the other games what you are doing and vice versa, then the server cannot depict what actually happened. Try opening your NAT Type by port forwarding and refreshing your network and modem. Even if you are green baring, if your NAT is not open, then not everything is getting through to others, regardless of your signal strength.

          • The problems seem to always be a lot worse in hard mode, and im not convinced its all connection related as my teams internet is all good, and when running easy I rarely get issues but in hard its sometimes unplayable even when connections are showing green. Guess they didnt test it that well as they are too busy focusing on PvP.

          • It's not glitches. It's lag. You need to make sure whoever is host has a good connection. The only thing bungie can do is get dedicated servers or fix the code so it chooses the person with the best connection to be host.

          • Did my first raid in a month on tuesday. First time my clan had been on in a long time. We were super psyched just to raid together again since most of them had left for a while. Bungo rewarded us with constant booting and glitches...we tried...for 2 hours...but just couldn't beat the glitching mess and gave up. Haven't seen any of those guys back on since... Thanks bungo.

            • Lag- :-( Host migration in destiny is bar-none, better than most games every made. The downside is a shitty host will drag down the who fireteams ping, making the last encounters of kings fall neigh unplayable. If I had a nickel for every minute spent running oryx with a red bar on the squad. Sucks, but it's how it is.

            • That honestly sounds like lag, even green bars have lag, all it takes is one player in the lobby to have a rough connection and thats it, P2P connections are shit and should have never made it to this game, worst decision Bungie have ever made. The raid rewards are bad enough as it is, let alone not being about to beat it soley because of lag, I too have had fireteams of 315+ all knowing what they are doing and still can't beat it after hours due to ogres not taking damage, enemies teleporting, spark not picking up, pads not activating etc. Bungie needs some freaking servers because you cannot host a game this big based off P2P, it just doesn't work, the first year of Destiny proved that.

            • its not just bungie. psn needs to be fixed as well. the few times i found groups willing to take me through the new raid psn would tell me there are no such accounts. i thought i was getting trolled until i found out that you have join a random third player that can see us both to play in the same game.

            • Sounds like a bad connection. Change leader and phase back in next time. I have had probably 3 of those list happen and they were all related to a bad connection.
