NEWSFLASH: Xur is here for noobs
...and it's okay.
For those that flip out every week that Xur isn't selling anything worth a crap, guess what: that's because he's catering to people with a lot of climbing left to do.
Granted, I'll be buying a Helm of Saint-14 and infusing the hell out of it, remember that 3 of Coins is there for us 300+ Guardians who need that 310 or 320 exotic to drop.
Xur is just another tool by which lower light level 40's can join the ranks of the 280+ players, getting them into end game activities a little more quickly. That's all Bungie wants for us anyway, to run the Nightfall every week on three toons, run the raid three times a week on three toons, and play IB and ToO, just to get booted by some wild animal but in the hopes of getting slightly better rewards.
So Xur isn't for veterans. It's for noobs. I've been there, and now I'm not. I'm not angry at Xur, because I've moved past the crutch. Maybe one day you vets pissed that you can't just throw all your strange coins at Xur like he's some tentacle-faced alien stripper will figure it out too.
Xur is for noobs. Done.
EDIT: I've been helpfully informed that "noob" has a negative connotation, so let's just go with "new Guardians". Wasn't trying to be a jerk, just making a point that new Guardians benefit from the help, and veteran Guardians don't need it.
