Yeh. Why do this?
Edit - I see comments where people say last gen limitations..
Gta 3 - PS2
Ohhhhhh, Gta 3 didn't have multi-player?
Dark Souls & Gta 4 - Ps3 & 360
(I understand dark souls could be linear, but still had enormous areas to explore)
Ohh but your still crying?
Gta 5 - Xbox 360 Ps3 Xbox One Ps4 . A true massive beautiful detailed insanely customizable open world, with animals and wild life, and insane amount of activities, where you can even explore the deep sea, which also has sharks and other wild life.
&
They constantly release free dlc...
Do you know how many people can "patrol" in Gta 5 simultaneously?

Edited by Szeth6678: 11/29/2015 6:55:29 PMOk, all I want to comment on is where you mention Dark Souls. In Dark Souls 1, if you saw a place, you could go there. Not so much in DS 2, but still to some degree. I agree with the Zeropunctuation review for Dark Souls on Youtube in that it should be a rule in video games that you can only put things in your skybox if the player can go there. As Yahtzee said, "games like Syndicate would look like they took place inside a ping-pong ball while Dark Souls would be laughing because if you ever see a distant ruin or tower you'll eventually go there"

I'll take Video Games for 200, Alex. Question: Two things that are not in open world games. Answer: What are invisible ceilings and kill volumes? That is correct, pick again...

Something changed in the last year before the game was released. They said it was all open and you could explore where you could see at the e3 2013 show without showing it, just said that's for another time. Then the game was delayed from that September to March, and again to September '14. Either they couldn't be arsed or, no, they couldn't be arsed.

It's just one of those things they lied about at E3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyreXM6wYMc after 0:50 "If I wanted to I could just walk out there, it's real geometry" Haha my ass

Our world is split up into 3 planets, a moon, and a moon sized ship. It makes it feel smaller.

Mega man X did this too. I think mario started the trend

Meh, personally I'm quite content with the amount of explorable area in this game after seeing how everything works, and I understand why it's not a true open world experience. Been playing the game since release and I still get lost sometimes and discover new things while patrolling. Don't get me wrong tho, I'd definitely like to see more planets in the game, and I wish some of the cool crucible maps were available in PVE for some sort of interaction (maybe they can offer a horde mode for your fireteam on those maps?). Maybe for Destiny 2 they can make it more like Planetside 2, but I wouldn't hold my breath. That would change the feel of the game drastically and would be a nightmare to develop missions for.

Edited by II Stargazer x: 11/27/2015 6:44:44 PMDestiny is like real life, you try going beyond your village/town/city only to be hindered by an invisible wall or loading tunnel/road/footpath.......
-
It's not that the areas we have are tiny. Other than the Dreadnaught, it's that there is no incentive to explore every square inch of the area. First they need to bring value to their patrols before they waste the time to make big open areas that have no incentive to explore
-
Yeah. I hear you, J. Sometimes, looking around the breathtaking world of Destiny that is entirely off-limits to me, I actually get a little sad.

Edited by Thane: 11/28/2015 7:20:14 AMDoes it really matter ?? Their small maps already has nothing, but enemies so do you want more of that (more empty spaces) ?? Bungie's idea of an explorable/open space is laughable to say the least.

You get an invisible wall. And you get an invisible wall. Everyone gets an invisible wall.
