I keep seeing posts about how the first part of the chaperone quest is so hard. This is the exactly the kind of thing bungie would nerf to cater to ultra casuals.
I have The Chaperone. I got it week three cause I slacked off on the final mission (which is a lot harder than the first part). I didn't boost and I did it on my warlock. Check my sub one kd if you want, but if a scrub like me can get this gun then you can too.
I did most of my matches in Rift. Lots of people congregating in one spot makes for easy pickings. As others have said, you just need the gun equipped when you get kills so bust out those machine guns and go nuts!
Anyway Bungie, please do not nerf this quest. It's a good level of difficulty for a good weapon.

Edit: More tips
- Try mayhem, as long as your equipped primary is TLW, all your secondary/heavy/super kills will count towards the quest
- You get 3 points for a win, so equip the gun prior to a match win for easy points
I've seen a lot of people saying that this quest is easy. I'm not here to refute that. It will be easier for some and more difficult for others. But that's the way it should be. :) I'd also like to thank everyone for being civil, it's a refreshing change of pace from your usual forum fare.

The quest definitely sat in my inventory forever because it seemed impossible for me (I don't use handcannons that well and am still pretty bad/mediocre with the guns that I do like). Eventually, when I decided to actually focus on it, I was able to do it in 6 games just playing normally. I probably could've done it quicker if I tried the swap method, but the load time for bringing up that menu drives me nuts, so I never tried it.

Imprecation is way more harder than chaperone quest, if i knew the dev who made those imprecation quest im going to stick my destiny game in his/her ass then quit.

I just hate Y2 TLW. Did some testing the other night and the dispersion is ridiculous. My biggest problem is not using Shoulder Charge as my primary and going 1:1

Edited by Project Atom: 11/30/2015 6:26:19 PMThe Last Word in Crucible bit is driving me nuts. I know you can 'cheese' it, but I'd rather do this as intended.

I did this easily and I'm crap. Just swapping between weapons when heavy arrives and equipping when you use your super or about to win the game. It's hard as he'll not doing it this way as like I said I'm not great at pvp
-
Did it legit... took me forever (check my KD, nothing special there)... Last match of the quest I went 13 or 14 and 0... went crazy when it popped... If they Nerf it, mediocre players like ourselves won't have that HUGE sense of accomplishment... Honestly the gun isn't even a game changer in pvp... its just fun to use...

The final mission is harder as the tlw kills? Haha, pvp scrubs. The final mission is a walk in the park if you know pve. Git gud.
-
They never said they were making it easier. Only the imprecation quest.
-
I was having a horrible time with the quest until I played rift on bannerfall, went from 30% to 100% just by sitting in the back and sniping people at long range and body shotting them at close then switching to the last word.
-
Seriously kinda bogus I did the shax quest and the chaperone quest it's not that bad. Just do it You might even get better at cruicible in the process
-
The first part would have taken me months if I hadn't waited for super / heavy then gone nuts. I was getting 10.0 k/d in games and getting +7% only until I started using that strategy. Once I changed I got it done in maybe 4 games. I got 33% in one life at one point. Actually all I think they should do is make it clear in the description that multi-kills and sprees have a multiplicative effect. As they do in the buckshot bruiser step. The people crying nerf are the ones who are trying to do it like I did at the outset. Sure if you are epic at PvP you will get there in maybe 10-15 games playing "normally" with TLW always equipped. If they understood the mechanism by which points are awarded players who are struggling would realise that the quest is tough, but fair in that it rewards "power plays" which is kind of the point of that step (raising your profile with Tex Mechanica). It was hugely satisfying swing that quest step pop up as complete.

Because if everyone has it pvp will be worst than it already is with shotguns

I have a shitty K.D and I did it super easy...

I have it. Signed

Why be mad about this i dont understand

Edited by Cpt Clam: 11/30/2015 8:05:02 AMTotally agree with this. It made getting the gun feel more special. I was very disappointed they nerfed the weekly crucible bounty quest. It made me a much better pvp player
-
Agreed. Got the first part of the quest done no problem in 2 days of challenging (but definitely rewarding) work
-
I struggled with it originally but somehow I accidentally completed it yesterday doing the Weekly PVP matches for the coins, I also had hand cannon telemetry on as I was trying to do First Curse quest too. Not sure but it felt like the weekly + hand cannon telemetry made the progress go faster. Or I just had a really good PVP day.

Signed. Parts of that quest were a pain in the azz but I am glad I stuck with it. Dont be cheapening it Bungie by making it easier.
-
Bumpbumpbump it's hard for a reason why do kids just want everything spoon fed to them?
-
Hardest part is waiting for reset day to get the gun
-
Not interested in the gun but I agree it should stay the same, first curse should also stay the same. Plus my Hawkmoon doesn't need a nerf, what percent of players carry it,minuscule.
-
I just completed the last word portion, honestly I think the part where you gotta pay 15000 glimmer is more challenging
-
Thank you chaperone is a fun for the true elite and it should remain that way
-
I didn't feel it was hard and got it in 3 matches but it most certainly should not be made easier! Just like inure how they are making imprecation easier!
