A veteran's view on refer a friend ...

This was originally posted as a comment in another forum but some concerned citizens feel it needs to be in feedback so I am posting it here as well. Bungie, I hope you read this and take it to heart. My husband and I have been playing Destiny together since Beta. We started out buying everything for both of our 360s. We bought two of each of those crappy updates Bungie passed off as expansions. We weren't happy but we kept going. We even brought more people to the game! We did our best to put our faith in Bungie. We upgraded to Xbox Ones and Destiny was our priority. The Taken King was going to be so much better, it just had to be. (After all, it couldn't have been much worse.) I got my Xbox One on the release day of TTK and we began game sharing and we were rather pleased with this new expansion. The new leveling system wasn't bad either. We weren't very excited about our old gear being useless but we would move on. Destroying our old exotics was painful but we had to in order to upgrade our new ones. Progress takes sacrifice, right? We have seen Bungie listen to TONS of whining about PvP and balancing and at least attempt to respond. My favorite shot gun lost a very useful perk. He did without multiple shadow shots for a while. Bungie was listening though. We told a few people who had doubts because of Destiny's reputation that it was getting better and they came to Destiny too! My husband and I have fought through the crucible and tag teamed those lag switchers SO many times. (Yes, yes, chase that critical warlock right into her hunter hubby and feel the pain!) We've overcome missions, quests, nightfalls we shouldn't have been able to duo, and bug-filled raid after raid. We have cheered each other on, laughed with each other, made tons of fun of each other, and seethed with anger together over this game. Now, Refer a friend is here. We've already referred our friends. I don't want to duo dance with some random. I want to dance with my husband, my partner in crime, my kick booty hunter dude who has had my back so many times! I want to give a high five to the man who deserves it after all the crap we've been through together. We're game sharing so we will even spend the $60 we don't have to spend so he can have the license! That's not good enough for Bungie though I am afraid. (see link) They want your money, unless you are a veteran, in that case they don't care. I feel very betrayed. It's not about the shader, the emblem, or the emotes, *grumble* or even that black and blue tron sparrow and sword. It's about the fact that most of your true veteran players have already been your sales people. We've brought our friends in and gotten nothing for it. Now, if we want these things, we have to link to some random person because we're tapped out on people? Not cool Bungie. We've built or bolstered so many strong relationships through your game. Please allow us to recognize them. I know you want new players but I can promise you that pissing off your veterans is not the way to get them, nor is it the way to keep your loyal players. After all, we're the ones you KNOW are loyal enough to stick around when you screw up. Sincerely, One pissed off Tigress

  • I couldn't have said this better myself. All of my friends are already playing and then they want to throw this out there... It's like when they released all those extras when TTK came out with the legendary edition. If you already had all of the expansions, they were trying to make you pay for them all again for an emote/shader/class item. If we're lucky they will listen to reasonable complaints like this one. I really hope I can do the duo dance with people I actually like and am not forced to sucker some random into buying a game they might not even like, because console sharing doesn't count from bungie's point of view. I asked my sister to play, and she was going to. Her boyfriend already has a copy of TTK on his console and she never played it before. So that's a no go. I'm not asking her to buy a game they already have again and she may or may not play it now that she knows I won't get the stuff for it, which was literally the only reason she was going to play... *sigh* Thanks for letting us down again Bungie. >:
