An Honest Opinion about Black Ops 3 Multiplayer

Preface Hello community! Today I want to discuss Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with you. Some background about me: I'm a PvP enthusiast and rarely buy games if not for their PvP (except fallout 4). With that being said, I've played PvP amongst Halo, The Crysis series, the Orignal Star Wars battlefronts, obviously Destiny's, Battlefield among others. However, what makes this opinion "Honest" is that I've never played a CoD before. So I'm coming in with a blank plate, no expectations and no bias. And I come back to you, community, with all three of those things. So if you are new to the series or on the fence still about buying it or just want to discuss your opinions on the game here is the place! The Good •What BO3 nails is making you feel like a soldier, starting with your gun. The guns feel amazing and unique when compared to each other. In terms of sound and feel, this is the best feeling guns I've played with. As far as making you feel like a soldier, I don't mean it trumps Battlefield's mist of epic gameplay, just that I simply felt like a soldier. •It feels like CoD -Even though this is my first CoD game, I could easily pick up on the feel of the game. Not many games look and feel like CoD and the feeling is nailed here. •Customization -Although very limited, the amount of customization in the game is something worth noting. Not many FPS allow you to look much different than one another but CoD allows you to make changes that are ever so slightly enough to make you stand out. •The Killcam -Again, this being my first CoD game, I love the Killcam and I think every FPS that strives to be competitive should have one. It allows players like me who strive to get better to view my mistakes and learn from them, something that can't be done in other games, most of which use that time you could be learning to force you to watch what the player who just killed you is doing for the next 5 seconds. A small point but worth noting. The Bad •The Spawns -The Spawns are god awful in this game. I thought Destiny was bad but this takes the cake. When I spawn after a death, there's some sort of unwritten rule that you have about 4-5 seconds where you should be fairly safe and can relax. There were times where I spawned in, ran for a bit and was shot in the back or ran into an enemy where I'd kill him or he'd kill me. They're bad. •The Maps -The maps themselves aren't bad designed, but from my time playing BO3, it felt like I was playing on four, five maps tops. That's bad when I can't recollect more than five maps. It was almost predictable which map was coming next. •The lack of skill based matchmaking -I think that Skill based matchmaking should become a staple in FPS but especially in CoD. As a noob, it took about 4-5 hours to really get into how to work gunfights to my advantage. To catch enemies off guard and to stay alive. So, for my level, I was pretty good. Problem is, I kept getting thrown into matches with level 30's, 40's and 50's as level 20! These guys where obviously much better than me and the stats proved it. They mopped the floor with me, I was easy pickings for them. It wasn't fun. They had more experience, better guns and overall just better. Why are they allowed to just beat on the weak? On the other side of the spectrum, I frequently saw level 2's and such in lobbies with me. Poor guys never stood a chance in gunfights. •The gunplay -Or lack thereof. CoD made its name off of lightning quick TTKs. What this does in a negative context is eliminate gunfights. It's about who shoots first rather than who's aim is truer or who can out maneuver the other. Is this a legitimate problem? No, but it doesn't translate well to other games nor does it really measure one's skill in the average FPS. Before I bought BO3, I thought people who were good at CoD were the greatest types of FPS besides Halo guys. Now I take skill in CoD with a grain of salt. •Scorestreaks -Scorestreaks are the worst thing I've ever seen in a FPS. Not because it rewards you for doing well, I'm for that. But at the expense of the players who are doing bad. It's a "the poor get poorer, the rich get richer" kind of thing. So if you're doing bad in a match, chances are you wont be turning it around. •Un-Originality -Just a quick one, they stole maneuverability from Titanfall and Supers from Destiny, slapped a CoD label on it and shipped it. Conclusion I'm fairly unimpressed with my first CoD game and even wonder why someone would actively spend money on it. There was very few occasions where I feel that I was simply outplayed with skill, it was either they just saw me before I saw them or they just got the drop on me. I may change my review in the future but for now it stands as follows. I'm glad to engage in any conversation about BO3 and wether you agree or disagree with me! Good day community!
I'll be doing one on Star Wars Battlefront when it comes out next week.
• I'm hoping for a response from you OP on what i have too say. Now it's your first Cod I'm cool with that, I've played every Cod, avid BF player ever since Bad Company, Halo is my go to shooter, Unreal Tournament 3 is my shit, Quake Live is fun, Destiny is alright, Star Wars Battlefront is the best nostalgia shooter and a whole lot of other shooters that i love to play. Life story of shooters aside. I mainly play TDM in Cod probably 95% of tbe time, Spawns in TDM aren't nearly as bad and there's a way to force a spawn swap (it's rather easy). Cod, like most shooters, run on a 3 lane system, maps are pretty easy to understand once you get that down. There's over 10 maps in the game, but the players in Lobby vote on what maps too play, so tge most popular maps will be played the most, no matter how annoying this is (i feel your pain for sure). TTK in Cod is quick as these games are made for pick up and play, i don't mind it as i play all kinds of shooters, learn the maps and you'll be able to understand some of the favorite spots and also make sure you get the upper hand in every battle. There's a matchmaking in Bo3 it's under arena or something like that, but again, Cods made for drop-in types of matches, and rank more or less just means how much you've played the game. Since Fallout came out I've put less time into Bo3, im level 23 but yesterday i was wrecking people level 40+ so your skill will still trump level, and as you said it's your first Cod, I've been playing Cod MP since i was 13 in 2008 on good ol Cod4, so im pretty decent. Adding to that last part, a bit of my Halo 3 skill also carried over to Cod. Score streaks, well i do agree but at the same tims if youre doing good why should you be punished for destroying you competition? If you're doing bad you shouldn't get a "congrats" badge for doing terrible, if anything use it as motivation to get better, just like what you said with Kill Cams End of the day, Cods really easy to get into, Im sadly a drone and havd purchased each of them, the only one to truly disappoint ms was AW, other than that thiz series is still fun too me.
