Festival of the Lost Feedback

The Festival of the Lost: Tthe Festival of the Lost is over now, and I want to compliment Bungie on the things they did right with this event, and point out areas where they could improve to make Destiny the best it could be. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, if you agree, disagree, or feel the need to express that op is fgt and/or lettuce please feel free to do so in a civil manner below. What they did right: Let's start with the good. It was free and available to everyone- I think it's fantastic that Bungie made this event available to everyone and free (unless you chose to buy the new emotes or Treasures of the Lost), and that you didn't have to spend any more money than you already have on the game to participate, although spending did get you some exclusive goodies and made getting masks easier. It exists- These kind of live events are fun and great for keeping everyone interested in the game, and I think are a worthy use of micro transaction funding. Still just cosmetic- When Bungie announced micro transactions many jumped to the conclusion of pay-to-win, and a certain piece of fine print regarding consumable items lead many to believe that clearly over powered data mined consumables would be sold to instantly boost new players to the level of veterans, but Bungie kept it all cosmetic excepting a few minor consumables that honestly didn't make much of a difference, and were identical to consumables obtainable in game like Black Wax Idols and Ether Seeds. I think it's safe to say Bungie is going to keep micro-transactions and progression separate, while still making the transactions fun and worth spending money on. The Picture Contest- Engaging the community like this is always good, and is a great opportunity for players to express their creativity. I was especially a fan of Rahool with his grieving engrams, and the no chill world's first Crota's end fireteam. Areas of Improvement: What could they do to make future events even better? RNG- I know many people dropped a lot of money in search of the ever elusive skull mask, and I saw one forum poster who spent $60, the price of the original game, and still didn't get it! RNG among rare masks was fine because they were free and pretty easy to get, but among purchased items this should not be the case. Much of Destiny's (and any video game's) player base is made up of teenagers and young adults who, along with some adults, may not be the wisest about spending and gambling, so a situation in which they would encounter this should be avoided. Unless the RNG system is addressed in purchased items, I don't think many of the players who bought Treasures of the Lost without obtaining a skull mask will be coming back to future micro transactions like this, and it does seem unethical to intentionally take advantage of these people (although I doubt Bungie was trying to take advantage of un-wise consumers.) Here are my suggestions for how to fix this problem: 1. If you have a legendary mask, you will not get it again from a legendary package, or better yet, you get to choose which mask you get and it comes with a few random goodies 2. The skull mask (or future equivalents) would have a 100% chance to drop from your first purchasd package. Turning in candy- I found it annoying to have to constantly go back to the tower to turn in my candy to Eva for a mask, and I think it would be more enjoyable if players could progress normally in the game and collect masks without interruption. This may make farming a little too easy, but there may be other ways to make it harder to farm. That's all for now, if I think of anything else or see any other compliments or improvements that I like in the replies I will edit them in. Please bump if you agree with my feedback!
