London Subway and Bus Explosions
I am watching the news and there have been 3 or 4 explosions on the London underground. There is also a bus that was blown up. Is anyone watching this?

Bugger! If that's true then it can't be a bloody power surge like they first thought. IRA or anti-globalisation protesters are top of my list of suspects in that case... [Edited on 7/7/2005]

All the news channels are on a thirty minute time delay apparantly; they agreed to do so in cases of emergency. Presumably it's so we don't get pictures of mutilated bodies on day-time TV... but it does mean we wont find out what's happened until later.

I think its in the stations, but a train in a tunnel or underground is a real -blam!-. Who ever it is we'll -blam!- get those twats.

That's not the kind of sentiment we need right now. People are still injured and in critical condition. Let the intelligence services do their jobs... The President of the European Parliament said there have been "many deaths". The other major European cities are on high alert.

Unlikely. Al Qæda as an organisation didn't actually exist until post 11/09, and even then it's just a small group of rich men who occasionally allow their money to be used for their geopolitical ends... It could very well be similar to the Madrid 11/03 bombings, where other Islamic fundamentalists were to blame. But one has to wonder to the timing. This is right in the middle of the G8 summit. There are an awful lot of anti-G8 protests in recent years. Anyhow, this is getting onto politics, which should be discussed in the group linked in my sig. We should stick to the event itself rather than the causes behind it.

It seems the only place that hasn't been attacked in a while is Australia... which... isn't good, concidering we might be next. Sorry for the lack of... umm... concideration(?) for this, I'm thinking a lot about the last few terrorist attacks and seeing if there's a pattern... >> Kritz

I live in Boston, so far I see is 90 wounded and 2 confirmed killed from cnn. This reminds me of 9/11, by how coordinated the attacks are, and the shock of another horrible unsuspecting attack. My thoughts go out to all.

Al Qaeda and co. aren't very co-oridnated after the Afghan war, so its a totally random, but Oz could be hit just like anywhere else. I mean co-orindination on a global scale, not a local level, on a local level they are devastating as we can all see. [Edited on 7/7/2005]

the problem with al qaeda, is how they operate. If Al Qaeda is responsible, those behind the attacks could have been living in London pre 9/11. So regardless of the state of organization of the Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, the cells that operate independently are very capable of organizing this type of attack.
