okay, I understand that this might be hard to believe, but I believe that the hive might have possessed the traveler as the first race for its discovery . The reason I believe that the magic in oryx's left hand could be a form of inverse light a.k.a darkness covered in light. the reason i believe this is because the hive are in consistent decay, but why is this? my theory is is that the traveler discovered them, filled them with light and pristine life by result. my thinking is that the traveler, a little later, re-absorbed the light with double force, and as a result left them with inverse light. this inverse light left oryx with a particular skill to wield it in such a way, that he could create his own pocket dimension of inverse light. but, by result of doing this created inverse mimics of whatever was put in the dimension, causing dimensional bleed effect which created the taken. oryx's particular skill with this is shown all throughout when you encounter the taken. But, i know what your asking, is this guy crazy? probably, but just hear me out, whenever oryx takes something, the elemental effects of its weapons are changed, and their shields are also made opposite. so might the traveler had done this to every other race? because all races have some form of magic ability, some how related to this inverse light.
