Dave's tips to Destiny Ok, I'm not the greatest Destiny player by all means, I suck at shooting (usually have the lowest kill score on any given match), and I struggle just as much as the next guy when it comes to leveling up. I also usually never get any lucky drops, for me seeing a yellow engram drop during a strike is the stuff of legends.. But I still love this game and every day I learn new things that apparently have been common knowledge for a long time.. So I'm gonna share them on this post just in case any of us can benefit from any of these tips... 1. Farm everything. If you're patrolling and you see it, grab it. It's as simple as that. Go look inside that cave or empty room in the corner, even in the middle of a firefight, it will pay off in the end. It'll save you the headache of running out of materials when you least expect it. It sucks not being able to upgrade your brand new super weapon because you ran out of relic iron when you know damn well you walked by it the day before and were too lazy to pick it up. 2. Use your motes of light. For the longest time I didn't really know what the hell this things were really for. I used to get so mad when the Cryptark would transform my weapon engram into a few motes and ruin my day. Well, it turns out motes are the biznizz...! So, let's begin. First and main use is to upgrade your items to awesomeness (you know, that yellow square). Take whatever weapon, armor, ghost or even (at a very slow rate) subclass that is not fully upgraded (perks) and equip to your character. Go to your items page, find your motes, and hit that "use" button about 5 times. Go back to your character and congrats..! You just updated the hell out of your items.. You'll fill up at least one green circle on each.. Probably more.. Rinse and repeat..! The second great use for motes of light... charity ...! Don't worry, it's a tax write off... Anyways, donate motes of light to your favorite faction. This will speed off the process of gaining rep with your faction and leveling up your faction rank. Every time you gain a rank with your faction you will receive a "care" package from your faction that could include shaders, armor, weapons and more.. And guess what..? They are good items.. Which brings me to my next tip.. 3. Join a faction Yes, join a faction..!! Today..! Factions have advantages, they give you stuff.. For free.. And if you want more stuff faster, donate your things to them.. They also sell stuff.. Really good stuff actually.. Most faction weapons rank up pretty high in game even if they are only 280 when you first get them.. So what are you waiting for..? It's free stuff..! 4. Infuse things together... Completed a strike and got a rare (blue) weapon or armor that's much higher light level than your legendary (purple) one..? Awesome..! Now get rid of that crap..! Yes, I know it'll bring your light all the way up one point, but is it worth it..? No. Your legendary items have perks, and those perks make all the difference in game. So simply pick your favorite perky legendary and infuse it with that overrated rare one.. Your legendary will pick up 80% of the difference and now you have a much better legendary to kick arse with..! Yes, it'll make the leveling up process slower but in the end it's worth it.. Rinse and repeat with any other legendary or exotic you want to keep around.. 5. Know your perks Your legendary and exotic gear comes with super cool perks. Learn them, research them, use them. The more you know about your perks the better use you will get from that item. Try different combinations and fine tune it to your liking.. The more you try, the more you know.. And knowing is half the battle..! 6. Don't be a stranger danger Destiny is awesome... But it's even better with some homies.. So, unless you're going around in circles farming spinmetal around the cosmodrome, invite somebody or join their fireteam.. It's just better that way.. Don't worry, nobody is gonna steal your thunder..! I'm sure there's plenty more tips to add..
