Ranking up factions

Disclaimer: this is not a complaint (kind of). I've tried to avoid being as whiny as possible, and simply get my point across. I'm not demanding a refund or anything. Since 2.0 it seems like it's been a lot more tedious to rank up the respective factions. It's good that you no longer have to wear the class item to get the rep, for colour clash reasons, but at least you could remove it whenever you wanted instead of having to wait a week. Now you have the strange and impractically controlling situation of once-a-week badges, as if people switching factions all the time was some kind of endemic problem. But the real issue is with how much rep you get from bounties now. Why make it so that you only get half of the available rep for the faction that you've chosen to rank up and still retain the full amount for vanguard/crucible? If you went out of your way to get a badge, then you probably (definitely) care more about ranking up FWC/NM/DO for sweet shaders/ships (or even just as a solid way of getting good gear) than ranking up vanguard and crucible for some pretty pedestrian rewards and a pat on the back from Shaxx. The bounties themselves are also a little off. It was a great idea to have more bounties available every day, but why even institute that if you make them all worth very very little rep? Doing a few grindy 100 rep bounties a day to really jump up your rank was great, and if there were more bounty slots for the same 50/100 rep bounties...well that would just be better. The new bounties are strangely varied in difficulty, and all give paltry rep even before being cut down for factions. I realise that perhaps if you complete all 16 in a day you may earn more rep than you would from doing all the dailies in year one, but the bounties now are simply worse- less fun to complete due to their either incredibly specific or worryingly easy nature, and as such far less appealing in terms of completing them all. It seems like another example of Bungie needlessly trying to 'streamline player progression' by simply making it more difficult to progress. Vastly improving faction rank up drop rates (as they have done) but making it more difficult to rank up factions is simply self-defeating. Before 2.0 everything you did got you rep for your faction and your faction alone and in one day you could really make some tangible progress, but now even if you do something like 10 bounties you've barely pushed that white bar forwards a fifth of the way, and the worst part about it is that you can see what you really earned on your vanguard rank. At least give players the option to adjust what % of rep they want to go to vanguard and what % they want to go to factions, so that they can do both at the same time if they want but also have the choice to invest all their rep into factions. Also, the material/rep exchange is pointless if it gives you more rep than the bounties themselves. You can now buy a rank with 33 strange coins from Xur (heavy synth). Obviously this is nice for getting that last 100 rep for the next rank, but should definitely not be a viable alternative to actually completing activities, and it is, because the new bounties don't work. Don't get me wrong; I love the game and I love 2.0/Taken King (kind of), I'm not one of those people calling Bungie the devil and making them out to be the root of all evil, I think they try to do a good job and just miss the mark sometimes because they're so keen to create what they see as the perfect game by changing too much at once, and I really appreciate their dedication, I just felt like what was a really engaging part of Destiny, that has such potential, was negatively affected by 2.0, and isn't getting any attention. TL;DR: It's harder to rank up factions because the new bounties are tedious and your rep gets halved down to minuscule levels. Would be better if you at least have the choice to let all your rep go to your faction. Material exchange is too viable because new bounties don't provide.
