I'm not sure I understand Bungie's rewards for the PVP activities that take light into account. You probably want to be at least 290 light to be competitive in Iron Banner, and most likely Trials as well, but if you do well your rewards are all 280 from vendor, and still probably below where you already are if playing it in the first place. What's the point in that? You're literally going backwards in light level if you want to use the rewards that require a high light level to attain. Seems like a weird Catch-22 to me.

It's so people can't simply jump in and grind iron banner for one week and be top light level. It's always been this way. It will always be this way.
