How much money is enough Activision?

Bungie. Listen. You need to step up and put your damn foot down. I know you guys can't support the decisions the Activision bastards are forcing on you. I'm disgusted with the amount of money I have wasted on this game. Let me recap my money spent; *Destiny; $60 - I have no issues with this purchase. *Dark Below and House of Wolves $30 - Complete waste of $30. I play solo, so House of Wolves was completely useless. Solo players are locked out of like 70% of the content if not more. Dark Below and House of Wolves had almost no story and like 6 missions each. TDB didn't even have a proper fight against Crota [mission]. Skolas fight was pathetic and half assed. *Taken King $40 - While it's a good expansion for the most part so far it was way too damn expensive. It does a lot right, but it does a lot wrong. It's a step in the right direction, but far from what Destiny should be. *Collector's edition set of garbage $20. - Yes, it's all pure garbage and I am shamed of myself for buying it. The cloaks are not useful at all. The shaders are a mixed bag. The emotes are god awful. Now, after all that I've invested into Destiny ONE you're introducing microtransactions on top of that? I'm gonna be sick. Especially since you charged me $20 for a pack of garbage you call "collector's items" and $30 on crap DLC. Now you're introducing like 20 more [emotes] that I can guarantee will be better that the super special snowflake edition's. I'd rather just have a damn subscription fee than this nickel and dime crap. You expect us to put up with this for 8 more years? You are out of your mind. I have two suggestions to stop this train before it completely derails. First, these silver items must be able to be earned in game. Earnable from quests, strikes, PVE and PVP, and possibly a new type of engram. Buying them will be faster, but you have got to give people a break and let us earn another new currency in game. I've already given you almost $200 for gods sake. Oh, and weren't you saying how you were trying to streamline currency in game? I can already tell this Silver crap is going to be making it's way to vendors. It's just a matter of time. Second, Bungie. Put your foot down and stand up to Activision and say "no." Activision is not going to walk away from Destiny if you stand up to them. You needed the $500m+ to make the game and Activision answers. That does not make you their slave. I highly doubt anywhere in your contracts it says Activision has free reign over your game. Enough is enough. Just say no. Microtransactions have no place in Destiny. You need to reward your players by having these kinds of things as rewards in game. Not ask us to spend more money on them. The only rewards your players get now are usually hard earned, take too long, or are completely useless. One example of how your rewards are dreadful. The quest line from Lord Shaxx. You finish it and you get what? A damn commendation? Do you know how infuriating that was to me because I do not like PVP? 250 rank points. Wow, thanks. That's amazing. Don't even get me started on the faction level 25 quests. If you're not level 25 already you're SOL! The final reward is pretty, but completely useless. Oh, 6 rank points instead of 5? Awesome. That's another issue altogether, but you need to put a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for your players. Not just something that has virtually no use. "Oh wow, a new .3 second respawn animation. That's amazing." Bottom line. Start giving and stop taking from your player base. To the players reading this; when is the last time you actually got something you wanted that wasn't handed to you on a silver platter? (Xur, 3 of coins abuse, etc). I can honestly say I can't remember. It was probably when I bought the Saterienne Rapier. I hate pvp so I really felt good when I got that. RNG? I've not gotten anything amazing from RNG in a few months. Any good weapon I get has crap perks on it that make it next to useless. If you're like me you're getting by with the mediocre weapons that engrams give you and hoping for a better version. Oh, and remember that Saterienne Rapier I put that effort into getting? Completely useless now. Thanks a lot for that by the way, Bungie. That's my piece. I know noone at Bungie will read or care, but the player base has got to say enough is enough at some point. This is getting out of control. Not to mention I am sure they are going to be asking for another $40-50 for the next two DLCs. God only know what else Activision has planned to milk this series to death before Destiny 2 is even revealed. Bungie...why Activision...Damnit why!?

  • Maybe you missed the part where they are releasing new missions and other content for FREE over the next year instead of doing paid expansions because of the money they will make from people buying these emotes. As someone who will never spend a cent on these items, I am happy that other people are paying for me to have new content for free.

  • They need to hit revenues of $4,425 M GAAP adjusted and $4,600M non GAAP this year or the stock price goes down.

News Flash! This just in! Video game development costs money! Not to mention it is a "for profit" business. If you want new content, you need to pay for it. No one at Bungie/Activision is getting funding from some secret society of video game philanthropists that want all new content to be free for all. Anyone who does not understand this, probably has never had to work for a living. I mean, you would not work for free. So why should the devs?

    • It's only Emotes, maybe a shader for sparrows or something. Things to make you looks pretty and dance like a 90s raver on speed. Will not effect the game, you don't have to buy them. There is a choice.

I've spent $135 on this game. It's basically the only game I've played for the past 12 months. It's also the least amount of money I've ever spent on gaming in a 12 month period...ever. I don't have to spend a penny more to experience the entire game. But now I have the option to buy emotes if I feel like it. Here's the best part. I've taken this directly from the update. You should read it.
These emotes are completely optional, and won’t impact the action game in any way.  If you’re not interested in what Tess has to offer, you won’t ever be forced to pluck an item off of her shelf. You’ll still receive updates to the game, and you won’t lose a Crucible encounter or fail to clear a Raid because you didn’t have the right Eververse Trading Company emote equipped.
• I feel sorry for you. To sit around and pinch pennies so hard on something that you clearly enjoy. If you didn't enjoy it 1) you wouldn't be playing it still and 2) you wouldn't waste your time complaining about it on forums. If it is something you enjoy, why not support the game? It's cheaper than a day at Disneyland and a thousand times more fun. It's got more long term value than putting together a model airplane. Nobody is forcing you to go buy emotes. If you want to buy them, then they are there. Bid you don't want to, then you don't have to and you WONT MISS OUT ON ANY GAME CONTENT. now I'm by no means rich. I make a modest living. The money I've poured into destiny isn't even a drop in the bucket. I bought guitar hero. Guitar hero 2. Guitar hero 3. World tour (full band of instruments). Rockband. That's like $700 in fake instruments and I had a blast using them. The funny thing is that I don't have any of those anymore. I don't have the games. I don't even have the console anymore. But Destiny. In a year, it's been $150-$160 for me. I've loved every minute. I can easily see myself playing new content for years to come. I will definitely keep buying content and my wallet will never feel a thing. I don't sit around and complain how expensive it was. I easily recoup the entire cost of year 1 in one night of work. And I think that most gamers with jobs can recoup their costs in comparable time frames.
