So, I was listening to Warriors by Imagine Dragons today and it made me think about Destiny, specifically I was thinking about Titans and Zavala, Cayde and Rasputin, and the Traveler. So, anyways, I was thinking more specifically how cool it would be to have some kind of Civil War in the game as a future plot/expansion (possibly the final Destiny expansion, whenever that happens.) [spoiler]So, we all know that Rasputin prevented the Traveler from running away from the Darkness (something it has done every time the Darkness has caught up with it, e.g. what it did to the Eliksni (Fallen) and the Kryll(Hive) and other races of Fundament.)[/spoiler] Well, we can also assume that Rasputin and Cayde are somehow close (as close as two autonomous A.I. can be anyways; some even think Cayde IS Rasputin somehow), seeing as how Cayde has been able to enter Rasputin multiple times without forcing his way in. Rasputin is famous for not liking visitors as Zavala says that the last Fireteam they sent inside of him were found "scattered throughout the Cosmodrome." Now, we all know that the Titan Order (in general) is very loyal to the City and ergo the Traveler. I was thinking how interesting it might be for the Vanguard to discover that the Traveler was trying to abandon us in our time of need and how Rasputin stopped it. This could lead to Zavala seeing Rasputin as an agent of the Darkness or just neutral evil, and wanting to destroy him, and Cayde (notoriously cynical and known to clash with Zavala on many issues) siding with Rasputin on this issue (sometime after we actually manage to wake Rasputin and get him to stop ignoring us), seeing as this would mean Rasputin was actually the one who saved us, not the Traveler. We also know that The Queen isn't necessarily fond of the Traveler and who knows what her and Eris are up to, so they could maybe a third faction in this civil war, and possibly the group that Ikora would side with. It could culminate in discovering that one or the other, Rasputin or The Traveler, is actually, or has been taken over by, The Darkness, and one or the other becomes the final Raid Boss. This could lead to the Queen helping to defeat the Traveler, which will be adamantly defended by Zavala who will also be a raid boss -- or Zavala helping to defeat Rasputin, which would be defended by Cayde (and possibly the Queen?) Another idea is that guardians could actually pick one of these three factions and have separate Towers/places to chill. Obviously you'd still be able to play with Guardians from other factions for gameplay purposes, but you can't go to an opposing factions Tower/Base without someone from that faction in your fireteam. And then through some series of public events or something (similar to Iron Banner); you pit these different factions against each other in a continuous war and when the overall winner is decided it could decide the direction that the story line takes. Anyways, just some ideas I had while waiting for my next class. Feel free to leave comments and tell me what you think.
