Bungie, your lack of active moderation in this forum makes your company look really bad

Most reputable video games with large active communities actively cultivate their user base to create a more inviting experience, and culture, around their product and their company. In your case, your forums are on bungie.net. So all these trolls, mean people, insults, all this online bullying that you just sit and let happen on your corporate URL, hosted on your servers, reflects poorly on your company, your brand, and even takes away from the beautiful game you've created. I am not saying you need to drop the hammer and turn this into a milk toast Sunday morning church social media experience. I'm just saying that you're letting abusive loudmouths destroy your community by creating a real sense of adversarial conflict among your players, and the non stop negativity is hurting your brand, and even your very profitable game. I fully expect just for posting this that thirty 12 year olds will jump on here and tell me that I am a fgt, to gitgud, and whatever other negative crap they constantly spew, because no matter what I or almost anybody else posts, that's what you get here on Bungie.net. Is that really OK with you as a company? Because it shouldn't be. Having a few active mods would not cost you very much money. The return on that investment would be incredible. The culture of your community on this very social game should be at least on your radar, it's something you can easily mold into something a lot better than what it currently is, with very little effort. Hiring a few mods for 20-30k a year, or assigning mod status to some of your more ideal community members in exchange for in-game rewards or something, would pay huge dividends. This is a game, we play for fun. This forum should reflect that to some extent, and not be a place where people go to be attacked and constantly name called by little angry boys just for asking questions about the game. Put these kids in timeout if they can't play nice on the forum, and ban them if they are abusive. Nobody wants that here. Not you, not us. Nobody. Stop letting it rot your community. EDIT: Why not look into automated solutions that are extremely common. For example, some forums have threshholds for enough complaints or blocks. If somebody is running around bothering people all the time and enough people block said person, then they get put into a timeout where they cannot post for a pre-determined period of time. That would have people thinking twice about trying to bother other people, and they would self regulate. On top of that, you really do need mods to steer the conversation and keep the community happy. It's not such a large forum that it would be hard to manage manually. But a combination of automated and manual intervention would easily make this place a much better place for your players to exchange information, for your community to bond in a positive way, and to make your brand look good in the process. Happy gamers = loyalty = more money for you. Make your users happy.
