The biggest issues as I see them, and how I would fix them.

Destiny's biggest problems according to me: 1. Majority of progression is only by random chance. 2. The still-way-too-low chance of progression leads to grind. 3. Point 1 and 2 combine to make gameplay a chore, rather than something I want to do. 4. New content involves the removal / replacement of old content that was paid for. 5. No integrated way of finding people to play with. 6. The game puts barriers on communication and coordination. I've met around four other people using the team voice channel in the last 40 hours of playing. 7. Seriously, point 4. 8. PVP. Private games? Options? Map select? Nope. PVP balance aside (good lord that's another post entirely) it's absolutely spartan compared to Bungie's Halo games. What I would do if I were in charge: 1,2, 3. Leave random chance in, but add a crafting/upgrade system that allows players to reliably work toward a specific piece of gear. Warframe, a game that I have 415 hours on uses RNG, but also gives me something to work towards. It would alleviate the pains of turning in 6 legendaries/sublimes to the Cryptarch and have nothing but garbage equipment to show for it if I could then do something with it besides scrap it. 4. I would seriously just not do this. Why would somebody do this? 5. Get on your computer and go to some website, leave Destiny, open up messages and send a message or invite to a person on that site, hope they respond. Go back to Destiny. Leave Destiny because they responded and either go back to Destiny one last time or repeat until you have people to play with. This is actually the most reliable way of finding people to play with. Holy balls, this game is a UX designer's nightmare. First, I'd add a flag players can set for themselves while in the reef, at the tower, or on patrol to mark themselves as "LFG/LFM". Put a broadcast symbol next to their nametag and level. Players can see what other players want to do from the right-stick inspect menu or the roster. Then I'd hire a UX company (yes, dedicated UX companies exist!), because god DAMN, son. 6. I would just make the Team Voice channel the default. You just want to be alone or with your fireteam, I'm OK with that, but I'd rather make communication opt-out instead of opt-in. 7. No seriously, making certain things an "event" is reasonable, but how the hell am I supposed to do things like complete reef bounties if they don't exist anymore? Not to mention how screwed the people who didn't pick up TTK are! 8. Remember Reach? With the next map voting? Private and custom games? Come on now, don't tell me you've forgotten the communities that thrived on the insane just-for-laughs rulesets! Solution in the shortest terms I could come up with: rename REACH_MULTIPLAYER.bigGameDesignFile to DESTINY_PVP.bigGameDesignFile copy/paste Replace? (Y/N ?) Y ---------------------------------------------------------- I assume other players' lists are going to be a bit different than mine, but this is Bungie's official feedback forum, darnit, and needed to get that off my chest. I really do believe that these changes would make Destiny a much better game.
