Player Generated Content

Recently I have been going back through Datto's old videos. He said a lot of things early on in the first months of Destiny that needed to be added to the game. And with the Taken King, a lot of the problems he has pointed out have been fixed. Story telling is excellent, the quest system is awesome, and leveling is more linear, not sudden huge jumps in power. I love it, and Destiny is on its way to being exactly what everyone wanted it to be from the beginning. There's just one large topic that I wasn't able to find discussion on and is talked about in the video I linked. Player Generated Content. As Datto points out in the video, players consume much quicker than developers can create. So adding in a way for players to create something of their own for other players inside the game can add so much more content and enjoyment to the game. Forge in Halo 3 and on was the reason I played those games for YEARS, and the reason I STILL play those games once in a while. What if we could do something like that in Destiny? Examples of what player generated content could be like: Custom Crucible map making, Sparrow races where you can set a start and end point. Map forging for any sort of activities. A way to have a private crucible match with friends and set the player attributes just like in Halo. Maybe you want to have a match with everyone in active camo, or you want everyone to be super fast. On top of this, there could be more options of activities. Remember Halo Reach custom firefight? What if for fun I could set up Prison of Elders, a Strike or even Raid with all the hardest modifiers? Or go the other way and set all on all the easiest modifiers? Or a mix of whatever I wanted? This adds a way for people to experience content in a fun way if they so choose, or allow challenge modes to be implemented just be setting a modifier. I think this is another player where messing with player attributes could be fun. The only issue I can see with this is reward systems and I suppose this can be dealt with by either not allowing rewards in custom activities, or perhaps being smarter and adding weights to the modifiers. If you add Epic to a Strike, there could be a higher chance of good drops. If Small Arms is added, there would be less chance, or no chance even. I understand this would be have to be a major addition to the game, not just a small side thing, but I really hope it is being thought about. Destiny is my favorite game and I know it can be even better. And I want it to be the best it can be.
