Do you really think people will like to WAIT A WEEK just to see what another faction have to sell ? Or to simply Buy another piece of gear ? Or to spend the marks which should be earnable What the F.... I do with marks if I CAN'T switch faction ? I'd rather go play something else rather than waiting a week to see what another faction have to sell if I need to tune-up my equipment, don't you realize WHAT AN ENORMOUS MISTAKE YOUR DESIGN CHOICE IS ? From what I've seen, now you gain rewards from factions wearing faction class armors and you get rewards when you level up, you can switch faction on the fly should you miss few exp points to get the level-up reward, but you don't need to be bound to a faction to buy equipment. Equipment from factions boosts specific abilities, New Monarchy boosts INT and STR, Dead Orbit DIS and STR and Future War INT and DIS. Let say you should drop a nice piece of armor from an engram with INT and STR and you should need a New Monarchy matching gear, with the new system you'll have to wait till the end of the week to go buy what you need, should you've already choosen another faction, just as an example. Furthermore, once you will be bound to New Monarchy in the HOPE they could have a suitable piece of gear YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE to check if Dead Orbit or Future War could have "that piece of gear" which could, equipping an exotic one somewhere, give you an overall better set-up. With the new system you'll not be able anymore to see what factions have to offer before joining them, you'll not be able aymore not only to buy items from other factions for a whole week, you'll not be free anymore, the new system will not be a "cool but hard rule", will be simply a mood-breaking feature, if put the way it seems they want to implement it. With the system they want to introduce the whole process to find the needed gear will become PAINFULLY LONG giving the randomness of the faction offers. A cool feature instead, as I already said in some answers I gave, would be being rewarded with "extra bonus" should someone willingly stick with one faction for a whole week, that said, neither in real live "allegiance" is mandatory AND HAS A "VALUE" FOR THIS REASON, cause if you "want" to be loyal to a faction is different from being "forced" to stick with someone. I hope this clarify the situation better even if I'm pretty sure it's still not a perfect explaination. EDIT 2: As clarfied in the title, luckily they didn't make the mistake or maybe I was just too ansious about this. GG everyone. EDIT 3: Unfortunately I was wrong, they DID IT, with patch 2.0 it seemed you could, after the TTK RELEASE INSTEAD they made you cannot buy from factions UNLESS YOU'RE WITH THEM... Shit, Bungie, why ?
