My Xbox one completely burned up with no hope of repair. It suffered a surge which caused severe damage to the hard drive and board in the Xbox one. Tried having it repaired and stuff recovered to no avail. Can anyone tell me, when I purchase a new Xbox One will I have to start over and purchase Destiny again and/or will I have to start all over with my progress. If so I wont do it, its pointless, I'm not going through all those months just to lose everything. I shouldn't have to purchase it again either but I have no idea. Please someone help me understand where I stand with the destiny game now that I've lost my Xbox One and have to buy a new one.

If it was a retail copy in the disc tray then it's gone, if it's a downloaded copy then just re download on your new console and use the same account, when it says syncing data for your account let it sync it may take 5 mins but you will have all your saved games on it

NO The exact same thing happened to me. You are fine.

You can transfer your Game account, and your previous xbox liscense (settings menu of xbox) to your new xbox. This will result in you being able to download all previous purchased dlc content on your new xbox. Your characters and gear and game progress is all safe on the Bungie server. So you did not lost your progress.

Always use a surge protector.

Thank you everyone for your help. Put down a lot more money on a better surge protector and bought a new Xbox one. Back on and playing.

It's tied to the cloud and your gamer tag. You're totally okay with destiny. Your Xbox not so much. I'm really sorry about that. I think they have surge protectors you can buy. Other than that, that's all I know about it. I think I'll have to get me one now.....

This should be in the #help section.

Just download/ install the game again. Destiny servers with your gamer tag = g2g

You profile info (lvl, weapons, etc) is on servers so your god there. If you bought the digital copy from the xbox store you are also okay. Just go to game in store and redownload (no fee).

Edited by Andalite: 8/30/2015 11:27:59 PMIt's all on their servers, I believe. So you should be ok But post this to help instead of feedback. You'll find better answers there

I believe your saves are on the server so you should be ok. You should just have to install Destiny again and pick up where you left off.
